I am sitting in front of my computer listening to Dr Who: Shada on BBC.CO.UK and it's got me thinking. WHy isn't there a decent Dr Who game out there? I vaguely remember some game during the 8 bit era (I'm sure it was on the Speccy) but that's about it! Do you know of any Dr Who games and are there any good ones? Thanks, P

The Bally Pinball kicks ass..

And then there's Destiny.. nononono not okay.
What about Dalek Attack? Nah, just a shooter.
There's the Mines games also on on the C64, which is kinda OK....

Damn. Your'e right.

But the Pin still kicks it.

this is something ive wished for years about.i can only hope someone might do something since the show is sort of back in demand.of course seeing that we havent even had a release of the show here it would more than likley have to be an english company doing a game.

I always dug the shareware game "Colour Daleks" on my old Mac... Heh.

Wasn't there a Dr. Who game on ROM chip for the BBC computer? Was that no good?

Dunno...problem solving and witty one-liners don't make for much of a game, I guess. We'll see a decent Dr. Who game once the dude starts kicking some ass.

As aforementioned, the pinball game rocks.

For those wanting to get a look, here are links to reviews of a couple of the more recent attempts:

http://www.thelogbook.com/pf/dalek/game4.jpg
Dalek Attack (http://www.thelogbook.com/pf/dalek/) (1992)

http://www.thelogbook.com/pf/dw/dw10.jpg
Destiny Of The Doctors (http://www.thelogbook.com/pf/dw.htm) (1999)

I like both of 'em, but they're not really terribly deep games, nor are they the best uses of the series' mythology. Surely with the marketing blitz that the Beeb have launched for the news series, there's a good game just waiting to happen. Or maybe another FPS. LOL

Really, I don't know how many ways you'd be able to do a Doctor Who game. He's not exactly an "action hero" type of character.

I could, however, see a sort of Monkey Island type game. That would be pretty cool.

If anything, I could see a game that has The Doctor sending out his sidekicks to do the dirty work, while he sits back and makes smart ass comments, occasionally getting up to blast random things with his sonic screwdriver.

I'm all about a Dr. Who game as long as Tom Baker is the featured Doctor.

There really isn't much out there is there? Maybe they could do a game surrounding the big battle between the Time Lords and the Daleks...could be fun!

So, consensus seems to be that the only good Dr Who game is the Pinball machine...it looks like I'll have to buy a bigger house then!

As pinball machines go, its actually pretty cheap. I think if I remember correctly mine was $1,200.

I had fun with on old Mac games called Daleks. Mostly a puzzle-type game and I had no clue who Dr. Who was at the time, but I wasted some afternoons attempting to get high scores.

Heh... Daleks was inferior to Colour Daleks though. Not just for the color, but the whole look. But it's nice to see another Mac person who's played the game, or at least a similar one!
