View Full Version : FREE PS1 game (NTSC or PAL)!! There's a contest here!!

I posted about my 'prototype' website in the prototype forum, but I want to offer this contest to all members, not just those who look at the prototype forum.

Basically just go to the website below. There's 6 pictures of different prototype playstation games. Guess what each picture is and send an email to my address there. You will be entered in to win a free ps1 game (I will give the winner a few choices). **If you do NOT want to guess each picture, just go to the website and email me to still be registered for the drawing. I'm not rich, but I have some extra PS1 games so why not give one away to someone in need.

So far only one person emailed me so assuming no one else enters, he will win a game. Now that's not fun! There's no gimmicks here. Nothing to register, nothing to buy.

If I get a lot of responses, I might do another contest and give out more games or possibly some PlayStation units or debuggers. (Possibly)

3 and 4 looks like killwheel and thrill kill...the first one is probably some 989 football game...

Am I allowed to enter? I can tell you all of them straightaway :-). I think I'll be nice to the other guys though :-).

And, come on, how is this spam? It's an interesting contest. If DP were filled with nothing but fun contests for free games, all the better!

For those members posting answers here, when you are ready to enter the contest please email me the answers. I'm keeping everyone officially entered into the contest in my email inbox. So far there are three people entered.

Ok hot shot, you can enter, but email your picks (don't post them yet). I'm curious to see if you can name them all.

Just because you can name them all doesn't mean you will win. You will just have a better chance of winning, especially with so few people entering. However, if you don't want to enter, at least tell me your picks.

Good Lord, my virus program went nuts on your site!

EDIT: to elaborate, first I see the pop-ups, then My Antivirus pops open to tell me a .exe file was isolated and killed, then I close your site and see the pop-unders. Sorry for the negative press, but that was rough.

The first one is definitely football, as those are the Steelers uniforms in the pic.

It's either 989 or Madden, but I'd go with 989 as they bagged production late on one of their titles.

I didn't get any antivirus noticed like that, but it's probably because of cjb.net pop-ups. (It was free). My IE blocks all that stuff luckily. Here is a direct link to the website with no pop-ups (just not as pretty to type in):

4 correct means you have done extensive research!

If someone gets 5 correct then they are a TRUE HARDCORE PlayStation fan.

If someone gets all 6 correct, then they are a PS1 god!!

I updated the status of the contestants last night. I'll do another update tonight. However, I am VERY surprised that proto 2 and proto 5 were correctly guessed. I'm glad I added proto 6 because there has been no correct answer for proto 6....yet.

(I'm curious to see BuyAtari and kevincure's answers)

There are only 8 contestants so far! Even if you don't know the pictures, go to the site and email me because everyone who emails gets at least one chance to win!

Yes, number 2 was an interesting 1, but I believe I got it right. It's a title that I've been looking for ages for, a horror at that, if I got it right.

Don't say what #2 is if you think you got it right. Which user are you? I listed everyone so far that I received emails from (except two more who just wanted 1 point).

BTW, I know the programmer for #2. :)

He will (if he agrees) be in a spotlight section in the PlayStation Museum when it opens.

I'm 'pushing' the contest because not a lot of people responded. I was hoping to do more in the future because it's fun (thinking about giving away a sealed PSOne but I would want the seller to pay the shipping). I'm not selling anyone's email otherwise I'd make the contest more than just a week. If you're paranoid create a hotmail account and email me through that. If you're still unsure, PM me here as a last resort. (it'll just be tougher for me to keep track of)

Lastly, if there other motives I have it's to promote the PlayStation Museum that should be opening up next month and it's allowing me to complete a list of unreleased PS1 games (some people responded with some games that weren't on my unreleased list).

Since there's only 1 more day left, I was very surprised at Sardius and Kristine. Together they picked the two tougher games (proto 2 and 5) correctly.

Much to the chagrin of others, I will be posting info on the 'unmentionable' proto game in January. I will have a preview, exclusive screenshots and covers for it and about 50 other unreleased US PS1 games. Sort of exciting.

Don't forget that I did the first draft of the PSX section of the DP Guide. ;)

And for cryin' out loud people, PS1Expert is not a scam artist or anything like that. I've dealt with him before both through his site and on ebay and I'll go ahead and vouch for his credibility.

Probably not. I think you got Thrill Kill correct only.

And a BIG THANK YOU to Kristine for your support. I try to do something fun and different and people think the worst. I can understand why they would think so (especially with those darn cjb.net pop-ups) so I'm not complaining.

Ha! I knew all this buttery prototype knowledge would pay off someday! That is uh, if I win.

Well, you didn't get both right. However, you did get one of the two correct and Kristine got the other. The question is which did you get right? I'll let you know Saturday morning after all entries are in.

WE HAVE A WINNER! Its_Hey_Ma is the winner of the contest. I just emailed him his choices. If he chooses to pass, the runner up is Sardius.

Most people guessed Thrill Kill. A lot guessed Kill Wheel and Madden 96. Only Saridus guessed Creature Shock and only my "favorite-to-win-but-didn't" Kristine picked Slap Happy Rhythm Busters (I don't know how she did it). No one guessed Breakneck.
