i've been having an argument with my friend pertaining to what occurs prior to delita stabbing the princess. i just remember her making a snide remark about how he used people, him dropping the bouqet he had - then running her through. my friend insists her stabbed or tried to stab him with a knife right before that. can anyone verify what took place?

I'm pretty sure your friend was correct. If I remember right, doesn't the princess stab Delita before he gives her a bouquet of flowers? Though, having not played or Beaten the game in years I'm not 100 percent sure if this is right or not.

Ovelia stabs Delita, which causes him to drop the bouquet. Then, presumably out of knee-jerk survival instinct, he stabs her in return for it.

It's one of those karmic endings. Delita had used and manipulated everyone he'd known, including people he actually cared about like Ovelia and Ramza, to obtain his goals. But because he did use people, when he thought he'd finally gotten what he wanted and became king, his wife tried to kill him.

Whether or not Delita or Ovelia died from their individual wounds is debatable, but the point is that what goes around comes around, and Delita got what he deserved for being a jackass.
