WOW this guy must be some gamer to have currency to spare in ALL of these games. What do you guys think about people selling virtual money/ items on eBay etc? I personally think its sad when you bring the fantasy into the real world.

That and "gil sellers" as they are called in FFXI destroy the economies of the games that they sell in. There are all sorts of people that use this feature and you can pick them out in the games as they have all the best equipment.

I read an article about this somewhere. People get a business goig in SE Asia, employing people for slave wages to sit at a computer all day and play MMORPGs so that the owner can sell the currency and items for real-world dollars. I wouldn't be surprised if that is what's going on here. There may be an outlet for resellers like this dude to buy currency at a wholesale rate and sell it on the market.
No joke.

Yeah - I read this article (http://www.gameguidesonline.com/guides/articles/ggoarticleoctober05_01.asp) and there are hundreds of people in asia farming and making a living from mmorpgs.

That's insane !! Can you really make a profit doing that ??? I've seen 500K lots of "gold" go on eBay for relativley cheap. I guess no one wants to pay excessive amounts for it.

I used to sell stuff from Ultima Online all the time back when I had more time to play it. I wouldn't sell gold (since EVERYBODY was selling gold) but I'd sell rare and skill-specific items. I used to average about $100 a week doing that.

I don't think selling in-game money for real-life cash ruins the games economies. It's not increasing the actual amount of money in the game, leading to inflation, for example.

I read something about that too. (Different to the article allready posted). Some guy was selling some type of currency in a matter similar to this:
1000 game currencies for 29.99
2000 game currencies for 39.99
3000 game currencies for 44.99
In most of these games, it is fairly easy to get the currency they desire, but you have to put off playing the actual game so-to speak.
I think.
