View Full Version : Seller responds to a simple question....

All I asked was why is the shipping kinda high for 1st class.

Here's his response:

judging by your feedback of 592 responses, i would guess that you have been on ebay for at least a year. in that time on ebay, i would also guess you have seen at least one other auction (if not a ton of them) where the starting bid or buy it now is less than $1 and the shipping is much higher than what it would actually cost to ship. This has become a VERY common occurance on ebay. having a low price gets peoples attention. I could have started the bidding at $25 and then have shipping set at $6 like auction number 8236503489 but i figured i would go the other way. Better still, for a direct comparison, check out auction number 8238293243 (you probably saw this auction and asked the seller the same question). If $15.00 shipped for a SEALED copy of MS2 for NeoCD isnt worth it to you then dont have to bid. I have clearly stated the shipping/handling price for US bidders (not trying to hide it or deceive anyone) so if someone wants to bid more than the current high bidder they have been warned what to expect if they win.

A simple "That's just my flate rate" would have sufficed.

I might just wait until the bids go up and then pull my bid right before the 12 hour mark so the bids drop back down and make it hopefully sell for way less.

Why would you do that? Dude, get a life. You can prolly buy one on Ebay and get free shipping.

If that's what you were expecting and wanted to hear from him, why did you ask him the question? If he said "That's my flat rate" would you be happy?

Actually ya I would. I'm wondering why out of all the auctions I won he didnt include this one in his rant:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8235512648

Probably because it started low and had a nice low ship rate.

WTH? Get a life?

Anyways, reason I asked is because its $12 for first class and he's in the US. I am willing to pay $75 for this game but wanted him to come down on shipping.

You can not justify a $12 first class postage rate. To ship the game is only $1.75+cost of the envelope which is another $1 at most. Heck when I ship CD games I only charge usually $2.50-3.00 anything over $4.50 is automatically Priority.

You need to get a life because you're even considering trying to mess up his auction. If you had a life, you wouldn't take time to consider stupid shit like this.

Dude, most ebay sellers overcharge at least a little to pay for ebay and paypal fees. The only party that should be angry about that should be ebay. If he clearly displays that he wants $15 for shipping, then you simply adjust your bid accordingly.

As the seller said, someone with your experience should already understand that.

Just buy the game from someone else. He has his shipping price set, I don't think he will change it.

I don't see what the big deal is? You asked a question, he answered it. Just because you have low shipping charges, doesn't mean he has to.

You guys are clearly missing the point of this. I only asked him a simple question and he responded with a novel and looked into my recent feedbacks and posted the item numbers to compare them.

He could have just said "It's a flat rate" and I would have been happy. All the other research was not neccesary at all and came off very unprofessional to me. Why would you intentionally push a potential bidder away?

Well.. true, he could have made the reply with 1 line. But I dont see anything wrong that he took the time and explained why :)

Exactly, reply with 1 line. It's kind of weird that he went through all that just to answer a simple question though. O_O

But the retarded part about it was this was sent to me 2 days after I asked it and after I had already bid on the item.

Oh well.

WOW! The Holiday Season must really bring out the inner crab in a lot of people. I think I have seen more snotty posts to questions in the forums in the last week than I have in the year that I have been a member. People need to chillax! Life is not that hard! Just roll with it. Life's a garden, dig it!

If you already bid on it I understand why he answers that much. He just wanted to explain very well, so you wouldnt remove your bid or not pay.

Who Cares. If you don't want an answer you shouldn't have asked the question. I think he gave you a pretty detailed explanation of why he charges what he does.

let me clarify a few things, the question in the first post was not my orinigal question. When the item was listed it just had a shipping rate of $12. I asked the seller if it was being shipped priority. He said no, first class. Then that's when I asked high 1st class was kinda high.

Anywho the guy apologized about the little rant and I said it's cool, it's the holiday stress getting to everyone. I am crabby sometimes , too as you can see.

I see nothing bad here at all. You asked a simple question. I ask such questions all the time. The seller responded nicely explaining all stuff. ;)

Unprofessional? Yeah, waiting for the 12 hour mark and cancelling your bid to screw up his auction, that's real professional. LOL

Oh, I read it. I believe you only decided that you were "just blowing smoke dude" after people started telling you to get a life.

It doesn't matter anyway, you asked the seller a question and he gave you the answer. Not a big deal, not worth worrying about, hardly even worth it's own thread, move on. :)

Report it to Ebay. Easy.

Ebay says DVD shipping of $25 is excessive. What would they say about $15?
