and send back the remaining amount to the receiver of the item.
...who is in, let me take a wild guess here... Nigeria?
common scam, delete, ignore, and it would be a good idea to block the bidder (you can enter user IDs to block somewhere in the selling section)
Any time a bidder offers to pay something higher than the correct amount is a major red flag.

This is a very common scam, especially when it comes to ps2s and xboxs. Never reply to them because then they have your email, and you will get tons of phishing emails.

Good thing you deleted the message and didn't reply.
One time my dad was selling a car and I can't remember if he had it listed in the local paper or on the internet, but he got a call from someone saying they were from Nigeria and were going to send him money for the car and the money to have it shipped to Nigeria, he thought it seemed kinda fishy, so he finally decided not to go through with it.
About a month later my parents saw something on the news about people trying to scam people by buying cars and other things, saying they were from Nigeria.
Damn scammers.

Another thing I find fishy...(0) sellers selling $4000 MTB bikes on ebay for like $999....Heck I even saw accounts with (190) feedbacks that had NO bikes in the history selling stuff like that..Hijacked accounts I assume..
The first thing I ask a "seller" with something expensive and fishy is "I use escrow.com and pay all fees, hows that sound??"
they NEVER EVER go along. Its is ALWAYS 'we've been burned by them , stay away'...And then ' we use 'USAescrowservices.com' or some other BS made up crap....
If it sound too good etc etc...a reasonable seller will use escrow.com esp if your paying the fees

This guy is located in Singapore....
I had a buddy of mine (registered here as "theelement") who sold a PS2 and Xbox bundle (both systems together) for $250. The bidder (from Singapore) Paypaled him the money that night, and wanted him to ship to Nigeria. I told him right out something was wrong. Thankfully, he listened, and refunded the guy his money and canceled the sale.
