My DC offers me an Arcade mode when I play this, so I'm assuming that this was released as an arcade machine, at least in Japan. I'm also remembering that when you stepped up to HOTD in the arcade, you unholstered your piece, labelled "The Gun of Justice". (Unfortunately, with the Cleveland arcade scene being in the toilet, I've not seen a HOTD2 in the wild.)

So the question that haunts me is this: In the arcade, did they go all the way? Was there a label saying that you were using "The Keyboard of Justice"?

I've never seen this in arcades, nor do I have a complete answer to your question, but this little bit from KLOV will at least give you the picture!

I saw one of these when I was in Japan last year. But, even arcades over there are dying. So, it wasn't too common. I don't remember seeing something about the "Keyboard of Justice", but that wasn't typical of Japan. A more typical label would be something like "This keyboard will protect your and bring your hours of happy enjoyment! Let's play!".

You might wonder how keyboards would last in arcades, but in Japan, the arcades are quite sterile and clean, so there wouldn't be the same problems like people stealing keys, spilling things on it, cigarette burns, etc. that you might encounter here.

The game wasn't too popular, even over there.
