I'e gone through three different DSes, and has anyone noticed any problems?

I know about the dead pixel problems, but both the DSes I currently own have sound static problems, and have not been played on a very high volume setting. Also, I noticed that the right button on the D-pad gets stuck a lot on both. Anyone else?

Both of mine were just fine (aside from the dead pixel on the first one). Did you try getting a tested warrenty replacement for the big N?

I had a sound problem and sent it to Nintendo's repair center. They sent me a brand-new DS system for free. :D

My brother's DS has a sticky D-Pad but it doesn't have a warranty. I bought it used off ebay for $65 and that was back when they were $150 new. It still works fine so no big deal, the price was right.

I've noticed the DS will sometimes have static in the audio if you have the volume level set very low. It's probably just a poorly designed audio driver circuit. Have you tried cranking the volume up to see if it goes away?

I've noticed a little at certain extremes, but only on GBA games.

I have five DS's and have never noticed any problems, including dead pixels. A friend has one dead pixel but can't do anything as it was imported from Japan on release. But that's the only problem I've seen. The quality control on the DS is second to none IMHO. :)

Why, exactly, do you have 5 DS's?

I currently have 2, only 1 had a dead pixel. No big deal.

Collectoritis, I'm afraid! I have my original Japanese import then I have my 'standard' UK release which my girlfriend plays all the time. I have the Nintendo VIP UK Pak (I think there's only 3000 of those.) I treated myself to a pink Nintendogs Pak (they're like gold dust here and I got it for £30!). And last but certainly not least I really couldn't resist importing the Hotrod Red Mario Kart Pak - it's just too lovely! By the end of January I fully intend to own a sexy white one too - how sad is that?!! :)

I love my DS, I have occasionally had a crackle in the sound, but only on GBA games.

Playing them with the volume a little lower remedied this.

I do notice alittle bit of sound problems

I think it's partly to do with mediocre sound chips but hmm something to test on all my games and see how it goes

I havnt had a single problem with old blue (yes, I nicknamed my ds...) it has run faithfully and perfectly since I got him.

The other day I was taking it out of my pocket and dropped it on a tile floor, man I was worried. You know how in like a second about a million things flash before you? Yea, that happened. I picked it up and...not a scratch! I keep looking for something, but it seems that old blue takes a licking and keeps on ticking!

You're my boy Blue!

I have had issues with the sound on mine too, although nothing too major. In fact, I never gave it a second thought until this thread. Sometimes, especially when playing loud, it sounds like utter crap. It seems to only happen on certain games, but it happens to both DS and GBA games.

Oddly enough, mine also has issues playing relatively quietly. It seems to have three settings -- off, loud and REALLY loud. It takes a while to adjust it to not as loud, and then if you turn it off and play another game, the sound will be off again and the process starts over.

Since I play it with no sound a lot, neither really bothers me, but if the scratching music gets worse (it seems to happen the most on Nintendogs), I'll probably look into getting it repaired.
