Final Fantasy I & II (XB)
Golden Sun: The Lost Age (GBA)
Pariah (XB)
Pikmin 2 (GC)
Raze's Hell (XB)

I had hoped that Psychonauts for Xbox would ring up for $10, but alas, it was the PS2 version. That means I'll be going back after dark...

my TRU must seriously suck, I went there today and asked about the sale and no one knew what I was talking about, on top of that, the line was so huge, I decided not to even waste my time with a price check.

Mine had about half of the games, plus they had just got a small shipment of Xbox 360's in. hehe

When I was there yesterday, they had just got in half a dozen of systems, and were expecting half a dozen per day they said. I also went into WalMart last night (talk about a rare night for me, I NEVER go there) and found half a dozen there too. Seems like a rather large shipment got out yesterday around here.

I picked up in fort wayne, IN:

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact(PS2)
Metal Slug 4&5 (PS2)

Are these games okay? I'd heard some good stuff about Metal Slug.

I didn't go crazy but I got:
Area 51 xbox for me
KillZone PS2 for my step dad
2 free xbox Jedi Hunter Controllers, free promo thing.
Not bad for 20 bucks!

I just bought my wife diamond earrings, I'm a little tapped out.

Since I have a dentist appointment this morning, I did my shopping already on Monday and Tuesday in two stores. Today is just price adjusting time. Great that the sale is really going on.

I'm glad that you already did this. I picked up a bunch of stuff on Monday that was supposed to be included and figured I'd just be returning it. And yesterday I stopped by another store and got a few things... Overall:

F-Zero GP
Halo 2: LE (LE my ass)
Conker's Bad Fur Day
Mr. Driller: DS
World Series Poker
Resident Evil
Pirates
Pikmin 2

I think that's it. My plan was to check and adjust the prices on everything, and it seems like it'll work.

The Brookfield store yesterday was crazy in the afternoon, with people everywhere and a line that was like 15 minutes long.

Glad to hear that you got your share, too. :) (Now let's wait for the report of Rich the Goodwillhunter, he probably got the best of the best, he's a magician when it comes to finding deals) :-P

The price adjustment worked very well, smooth and fast. I would have returned games as well if they weren't included in the sale) Even better: By mistake I got a $30 reimbursement for a game I didn't purchase on Monday (returned it after the cashier grabbed the wrong game) which means I got 7 games for $6.

I didn't go to the Brookfield store, just the two stores at Northridge and South 27th. Today there were Psychonauts left, Sid Meier's Pirates, Winning Eleven 8's, Fatal Frames 2 and a couple of Metal Slugs. (all of them in the South 27th store)

On Tuesday I grabbed Sid Meier's Pirates from the shelf, but there were none left. Thank goodness I checked today again after the price adjustment, saw around 6 displys for the game, and tried again: yep, they had them in stock again.

Overall, great sale, almost every game I got is on my must-buy list. A retail value of $540, and I paid $100. If I sell the two duplicates (devil saga and pikmin 2) at some point with some profit, these great games will cost me around $50 to $60.

The only games I would have liked and didn't get were Zelda Four Swords, Conker, and Wario Ware.

I love those sales as much as I love the games. :)

Ok here is my haul

Area 51 (2)
Pariah (2)

Golden Son
Mr Driller
Final Fantasy Dawn of Souls
Dead to Rights (PSP)

GTA Collectors Pack (Xbox)
Ninja Gaiden
Killzone
King of Fighters Maximum Impact
Viewtiful Joe 2
Mortal Kombat Deception (LE)
Metal Slug 4/5
Project Snowblind
Unreal Championship 2
Price of Persia 2

:D

I'm going to check another store later today and see whats left. I was the only person at the store in the videogame area other then a couple employees that were digging for stuff as well.

Were you at the Woodbury (or possibly Bloomington...I forget which was which) store at 10 or so? I think you may have been the guy I talked to...

Anyways, my haul:

- Darkstalkers (PSP), which came with a FREE starter kit filled with random crap
- Raze's Hell (Xbox)
- Final Fantasy:CC (Cube)
- Blowout (Xbox)
- Wario Ware (GBA)

I also stopped at a CompUSA and picked up Bomberman Generation (Cube, $10) and Time Crisis: Crisis Zone (Manager's Special - $25!). I'm pissed that I couldn't find Pikmin 2 anywhere, but I'm pretty pleased overall.

I was at the Blake location right next to Northtown mall.

BTW TRU in Appleton Wisconsin must have not gotten the memo as NONE of the games where marked down and the employees looks at me like I was crazy. They have most of the games too, including RE4.

I ended up going at 7 this evening, due to work, and there wasn't much left. Of course, I don't think there was much left when I was there last week anyway. But I did get Mario Party 4 and 5, and I snagged Mario Pinball and DKC2 online. Not too bad, just a bit disappointed they didn't have squat in the GBA department.

Oh, and they were totally out of Resident Evil 4s 8-)

Glad to hear that you got your share, too. :) (Now let's wait for the report of Rich the Goodwillhunter, he probably got the best of the best, he's a magician when it comes to finding deals) :-P
Speak of the devil :devilish: ...my haul over the last few days:

GBA
Mario Pinball

Xbox
Conker
DOA Ultimate
DragonBall Z Sagas ($5 with in-store discount on DBZ games!)
Fatal Frame 2 Director’s Cut
Flatout
Godzilla Save the Earth
Gungriffon
Mech Assault 2 LE
Mortal Kombat Deception KE
Pariah
Robocop
Sid Meir's Pirates

Gamecube
Pikmin 2
Pokemon Channel
Resident Evil 4

PS2
Metal Slug 4&5
Romance of the Three Kingdoms X
Samurai Western
Tekken 5

Best part was the reactions from the cashiers as I was getting price adjustments today...

"Hey, this is a $50 game, it can't go down to 10 bucks, can it?" (to a manager)

"what the hell did I get my kid an Xbox 360 for!"

"Damn, you just saved $200!"

"Hey, go get some of those games for my kid!" (to a co-worker)

Glad to see everyone in Milwaukee did good as well. If you haven't gone yet, 27th Ave. is pretty picked over, but as of 6:00 pm tonight, Brookfield still had a ton of games, some good ones too, and a free standing rack in the back corner with at least a dozen Doom3's, scads of lesser games, and a few PSP Darkstalkers left.

There goes the Christmas bonus...but then again, what are Christmas bonuses for, if not new $10 games?

Achi and I grabbed the following. Overall, we got half of what we wanted.

- Donkey Konga with Bongos GC ($20! Now we have 4)
- Raze's Hell Xbox
- Doom 3 Xbox
- Conker Xbox
- DOA Ultimate XBox
- Fatal Frame 2 Xbox
- Metal Slug 4/5 PS2
- Death By Degrees PS2
- Sid Meier's Pirates Xbox
- Haunting Ground PS2
- Karaoke Revolution XBox
- Zelda Four Swords GC

Not bad, considering we'd only want the Mario Parties, Tekken 5, and Mario Pinball beyond what I have here, I'd say we were happy with this sale.

Speak of the devil :devilish:

Xbox

Mech Assault 2 LE
Mortal Kombat Deception KE

I knew it, I knew it...:) Conker you probably got from the Brookfield store which I skipped, but I never saw at Northridge or on South 27th Mechassault and Mortal Kombat on MOnday and Tuesday...admit it, you probably went to FOUR stores somehow. :) You either have an incredible perseverance or a collector's angel hanging over your head. I hope it is the former.

That's my favorite part, too. First I was amazed how much you pay for the stuff if bought at a regular price (in my case $540). Second, the savings were great with the adjustments. One store was $295, the other one $120.

...and on Monday and Tuesday none of the sales clerks knew about the sale, even today when I grabbed Sid Meier's Pirates and said to one of them "this should be on sale for $10," she replied "I don't think so." When the price came up, she said "...and I just sold it yesterday for $40."

MMMh, Brookfield, eh? When I was at South 27th at around 2pm, they still had around 6 Sid Meier's, and 4 or 5 Winning Eleven 8, and Fatal Frame 2 (which I'm really happy I got it for this price). Goes fast, I guess.

I never saw Zelda Four Swords.

Overall, just a great sale. Why didn't we have these kind of sales during the SNES times? :)

I was able to grab two copies of Shaman King Master of Spirits 2 and a copy of Fatal Frame 2, but I couldn't find anything else I was looking for. There were at least two other guys walking around with lists while I was there, too. I guess I missed out on some stuff. Oh well, if anyone has copies of Samurai Western, Dynasty Warriors 5, or Advance Wars 2 for sale/trade, shoot me a PM.

I went to the Ann Arbor one today, and I didn't see anyone around with a list. The first time I've been into that particular TRU. Once I found these three games, I pretty much stopped looking, because I still have presents to buy for other people.

Killer 7 (the last copy... score)
Metal Slug 4 & 5 (I like that they are seprate discs)
KOF: Max Impact

I'd was well worth my time, I'd say.

Are these prices good for tomorrow as well? Anyone know for sure? I'm thinking of going to the other local TRU tomorrow after work, in hopes of finding something good (which I'm doubting).

Hit up the Waco, Tx. store today at about 4:30 PM. Sorry GnG.

Anyway most of what I wanted was gone. I did get:

Xbox Fatal Frame 2: DC (last one)
Xbox Pariah (last one)
PS2 Beatdown (last one)
PS2 KOF: Maximum Impact (left 3)

The only other decent game was Doom 3, but that interested me very little.

I did want to get Nanostray and Bust-A-Move DS in that 2 for $30 sale but they were out of Bust-A-Move and the only other game left was that ATV game that I wouldn't pay $5 for so no deal for me.

Got the following:

RE4
Wario Ware
Pikmin 2
Digital Devil Saga
Final Fantasy I & 2

Nobody there knew about the sale, or at least they did not like US knowing about it. The funny thing is that the lady ringing me and my friend up looked upset that we were taking advantage of the unadvertised sale.

Metal Slug 4/5
Golden Sun: The Lost Age

I took a trip over to the Racine one this morning because it's not a very busy store. For anyone who was thinking of doing the same thing, there were mixed results. The Xbox games were marked down, and I saw SVC Chaos, Gungriffon, and others (no Conker). Some of the PS2 ones were marked down to $29.99 instead of $9.99. The others weren't marked down at all. None of the GC ones were marked down. They didn't have a lot of the games either, and it was a mess. I did find a Virtua Quest for PS2 laying on the floor ($9.99, which I bought) along with Maximo, PSO I + II, Custom Robo, Blowout, and PS2 Syphon Filter (all $9.99, also lying on the floor, I left those).

I've gone there other times and it wasn't as bad as this time. From my experiences, you're almost always better off sticking to the Northridge store and the Brookfield one. The Racine and 27th street stores usually aren't worth the hassle IMO.

I was the first in line in the game section and no Mario Party 4 or 5, Metal Slug 4&5, Metal Slug Advance. Due to the holiday shopping I think everyone bought all the mario parties the night before at regualr price since no one knew about the sale but me.

I took a trip over to the Racine one this morning because it's not a very busy store.

I had the same idea DE, and went to the Racine TRU around lunchtime (NOW I've been to 4 TRUs Lendelin!). Aside from the horrendous traffic (people who leave their Christmas shopping go until the last minute are nuts!), it wasn't too busy inside, and I got some games I hadn't seen elsewhere or passed by initially, along with some free Star Wars controllers:

GBA
Tron 2.0

PS2
Alien Hominid

Xbox
Raze's Hell
Karaoke Revolution
Bust-a-Move Ultramix
2 free Star Wars Xbox controllers

Christmas came early several times this year!

I had the same idea DE, and went to the Racine TRU around lunchtime (NOW I've been to 4 TRUs Lendelin!).

I knew you would manage to go to four stores in a city which has only three. :)

I was in the Brookfield store today, and grabbed:

Mortal Kombat Deception (PS2, not collectors edition)
DOA Ultimate
Haunting Ground
Neo-Contra (as a duplicate)

...and then did some shopping (3 games) for a birtday of a 12 year old of a befriended couple which comes up.

Great sale! a $5 sale would have been better, but I got almost every game I truly wanted, plus some nice little extras; aditionally, there were games among them which hardly dropped in price so far.

I was amazed that games were stacked in the 30s and 50s in this store: I never saw so many FF Chrystal Chronicles, SSX3s, and FFI and IIs and Golden Sun stacked like this.

$5 would have been cool...but ten... still VERY do-able.

well..... at least until the CARD comes... dum da dum dum..... :D

IS Golden Sun any good?

it WAS wwwwweird to see so many games for so little and they were all SEALED too!

I went yesterday and picked up 13 games and then went to another today (payday) and got another 15 more. It was really funny actually, the clerk at the counter was a kid and when I told him about the sale he said that there was no way that most of the games that I picked up were $9.98 each. I told him to trust me and just scan them. He said that he was just wasting his time but sure enough as he scanned each title they all rang up at $9.98 each. By the time we were done he was looking at me in shock as if I somehow changed the prices myself.

Anyways, titles I managed to pick up were;

Xbox
Conflict Desert Storm 2
Crash & Burn
DOA Ultimate
Fatal Frame II
King of Fighters Maximum Impact
Mortal Kombat Deception
Pirates
Project Snowbind
World Championship Poker

PS2
Alien Hominid
BeatDown
Dragon Ball Z Sagas
Dynasty Warriors 5
Ghost in the Shell
Hitman Contracts
Killer 7
Killzone
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IX
Romance of the Three Kingdoms X
Samurai Western
Shaman King
Viewtiful Joe 2

Gamecube
Street Racing Syndicate
Wario Ware, Inc

GBA
Broken Sword
Golden Sun: Lost Age

Also, I got an extra copy of the following games that I'd be willing to trade one for one

Fatal Frame II (Xbox)
Mortal Kombat Deception (Xbox)
Samurai Western (PS2)
Shaman King (PS2)

Games from the sale that I'm looking for are;

Final Fantasy 1 & 2 (GBA)
Haunting Ground (PS2)
Mario Party 5 (Gamecube)
Pikmin 2 (Gamecube)
Tekken 5 (PS2)
Virtua Quest (Gamecube)
Zelda 4 Swords (Gamecube)

The price adjustment worked very well, smooth and fast. I would have returned games as well if they weren't included in the sale) Even better: By mistake I got a $30 reimbursement for a game I didn't purchase on Monday (returned it after the cashier grabbed the wrong game) which means I got 7 games for $6.

Wish I could say the same thing for me on the 27th Street Store. I went up to them and asked about the price adjustment, and the lady said, "You bought these yesterday." And I said, "I know. A buddy of mine told me these were going to drop, and it looks like he was right."

She opened the weekly sale ad, read through it for a bit and then said, "No, they haven't. You bought them yesterday, and this changes on the weekends."

I said, "I just looked, and they were marked for lower prices. Can you check?" She asked the other lady there if she "had to check" them for me or not. She said she did, and the lady started checking, and of course the four games that I had on it were $9.98. Then she said, "You bought these at the Brookfield store." and I said, "Yes." and she said, "Why didn't you go there?" (meanly, might I add). I said I wanted to see their game selection, and figured they could adjust it. With a loud sigh, she said, "Yeah, fine, but you should've gone to Brookfield. Next time, you can't do it here."

It was REALLY strange, especially after the Brookfield store adjusting my 27th street receipt (I got them mixed up... whoops!) with absolutely no problems.

I did pick up some more stuff at the Brookfield store today when I went back, including Gun Griffon and Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles (which they've had for what... ever now?) They have TONS and TONS of copies of Final Fantasy I & II for the Game Boy Advance too, so if anyone is still looking...

Obviously a woman who doesn't know what's going on and creates probs where no prob is. You always encounter these types in every area of life.

Dan, although I had no probs at all, some stores don't know how to train their employees, no matter how big the stores are, customer dissatisfaction is death for every store. I have the feeling that the managerial organization at TRU is not the best, and together with their decreasing marketshares of toys (Walmart does much better) this is not a good sign for the future of TRU.

I had the same feeling about Handy Andy where I told a manager once that this is not the way to run a store. He replied: "I do my best." I said "That seems to be exactly the problem." Never bought there again, one year later they got out of business.

BUT....we got great games cheap, no matter how dumb guys are sometimes. :)

Where the fuck do people hear about these things? I had like 5 people between Thursday and today loooking for what we had left for $9.98 games. Of course, it being Season and all, we are practically cleaned out and what we have in backstock is impossible to put out because we're held up helping customers and cashiering. Also, we only finished half the price changes so half the games on the list weren't even marked with the new price. Now, I'd have understood if these people with the lists off websites and shit were collectors like us, but they were obnoxious mothers - where the hell did THEY hear about it???

A LOT of the awesome titles that I would pick up have been sold out for some time or sold out promptly Thursday. But, I am optimistic that leftovers in the DC will be shipped up. I could also try Cambridge or Peabody. What really annoys me is I had just got done repricing a copy of RE4 and debating if I wanted to put it on hold til I got my check the next day or take my chances waiting a little bit longer. As I'm gazing at the sweet price tag my manager rings me on the department phone and asks me if I have a copy of RE4 for a customer who's looking for it. Well, 'tis the season to be giving - and I probably would've gotten my ass handed to me for "passing up a sale" or some shit - PLUS I thought we had more copies somewhere - so I said "yeah, I'm looking at one right now" and put it aside for the customer. Our last five Tekken 5's walked away before I could get my hands on one too. But now that Season is officially over and I'm restocking nearly every day this week starting at 7AM, I'll get the RZone back in its full form again and hopefully get restocked on some of the $9.98 games.

Damn!! I just realized I missed out on a $5 copy of DBZ Sagas since this week only was $5 off select DBZ games and Sagas went down to $10. Grr...

My TRU was completely cleaned out, and I wasn't able to come home with anything. :( Ah, well.

If anybody was able to pick up an extra DDS and would be willing to sell it without too much of a markup, I'd be very grateful. :D

Well my wife & I were out to at at Applebees & she bet me $20 I couldnt/wouldnt eat 6 celery sticks (I cant STAND the stuff, I pick it out if it's mixed in whatever I'm eating).

I used the $ at TRU for a PS2 Action Replay. Most of the game racks had been picked clean, athough there were a few I wouldve got- but I knew I was getting a s--tload of games for Xmas.

The store near me had tons of everything (except DDS, which I already had), but I only needed and got RE4, Romance X, and Tekken 5. TONS of DBZ Sagas; at least 10 copies left for each platform by late afternoon.

I picked up:

Tron 2.0 (Xbox)
Viewtiful Joe 2 (Gamecube)
Final Fantasy 1 & 2 (GBA)
Golden Sun The Lost Age (GBA) [X2]

(For those in southeast Wisconsin) I went to the 27th St. Store. They still had tons of Golden Suns and Final Fantasys, along with a couple Fatal Frame 2s. I didn't have tons of money on me so I am thinking of going back on Monday to pick up some other stuff if they still have anything good left.

Yeah, like I said -- it was very strange. And considering how good the employees at the Brookfield one were... just odd.

I think that Toys R Us started heading downhill when they took what was the biggest game selection and started carrying less and less video games, believe it or not. It used to be that no matter what game you were looking for, you went to Toys R Us because they had four aisles (on both sides) full of gaming stuff. I totally remember just walking down the aisles and looking at stuff, and playing games at the kiosks.

Around the N64 / PS1 era, they took it out and put it in a much smaller area, and then crammed it all there. Suddenly, there was little reason to go. Instead of 100 game selections, it seemed like there was about 10 for a lot of the systems. I stopped going for the longest time. They fixed this again during the lifespan of the Dreamcast, but I think it allowed GameStop and EB to really get known for being "the" place to buy new games. TRU is much better, but they sure aren't the same.

BUT....we got great games cheap, no matter how dumb guys are sometimes. :)

Absolutely. I'd go back again in a heartbeat to grab some of these games.

And by the way, for anyone who picked up Raze's Hell, you'll ADORE that game. It was a HUGE sleeper, but it was absolutely awesome.

After looking through that huge list of titles I made my mark for two, specificly, RE4 and Zelda 4 Swords Adv. Arriving shortly after opening on the 22nd we prepared for battle...

Our haul:

Resident Evil 4 (GC) <--- Objective #1: Check
Zelda Four Swords (GC) <--- Objective #2: Check
Metal Slug 4 & 5 (PS2) <--- Pure gravy.
Alien Hominid (GC) <--- $20 for this one... yet more gravy.

$50 + change = one happy pappy :) Plus no lines, no fuss... it was pick, pick, pick, pick, pay and then head home.

Thanks for the heads-up on this one. I passed on a number of games cause the christmas crunch still has my wallet in a ninja death grip. LOL The big hurt was Digital Devil Ltd Boxed set... but I couldn't see myself part with anything above to include it so... it got left behind for another broke-ass gamer :/ for me, but :D for him/her.

Thanks again!

Any idea on the ETA of the Green Tag?

Last year they waited until after New Years, if I remember correctly. I can't wait for the 90% bonanza to start anew, but for the time being I'm content with my copy of Pirates and Mr. Driller for DS.

Since all the green tag games went down to $10, I'm thinking the green tag % is no longer going to effect the video games...don't quote me on it though.

Has anyone taken a look at eBay lately? It seems like everyone who read about the ToysRUs sale here ran out, picked multiple copies of every game they were able to find and immediately ran home and threw them up for sale on ebay.

It's rediculous, people are asking $30-$40 for games that you can still get for $10 at ToysRUs

I finally managed to get to TRU yesterday. They had a few titles left. The reason being, I'd guess, that nothing in there is priced and you can't use the price check scanners. The UPC is distorted underneath the anti-theft plastic case, so the scanner doesn't read it.

I to got:

Boktai 2
Metal Slug Advance
Metal Slug 4 & 5
Pikmin 2

I'd hoped for Digital Devil Saga, Haunting Ground, and Killer 7 too. But no luck.

I went to another TRU, about three hours from my hometown and got...

Neo Contra (PS2)
Xenosaga II (PS2)
Geist (GCN)
Bomberman (DS)
Polarium (DS)
Super Puzzle Fighter II (GBA)

Unlike the local one, this one had actually changed the prices for all the sale games, I'm surprised they hadn't been completely wiped out yet. I got some titles not even on the list (at least, not on the list on page one)

I went to the Toys R Us on 27th today looking for Phoenix Wright for the DS, and walked away with Geist for $9.98! They had it as well as a bunch of other stuff that looks newly shipped in, including F-Zero (GBA and GameCube), Bloodrayne 2 (Xbox) and a bunch of stuff for the PS2.

They did not have Phoenix Wright.

I also stopped by a TRU today. Although the pickin's were slim, I managed to find a copy of Geist at the bottom of the discount bin. Thanks for the tip as well!

I also picked up Viewtiful Joe 2 (endless copies) for the Gamecube and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution for the PS2, all for $9.98 each.

Does anyone know if this sale is officially over? The reason I ask is that I noticed some of the games previously marked down were now marked back up to $19.98 and $29.99. I thought maybe the sale was now over and that with any remaining discounts YMMV.

On another note, Best Buy had The Getaway Black Monday marked down to $9.99 and Dual Masters for $4.99 for hte PS2. I just picked up The Getaway.

Congrats on the Pirates! Gold score. It took me forever to get a copy with a decent copy of the map (no tears etc.).

Why doesn't this surprise me? :) You know, after I was at a TRU and then maybe at another store, I'm TIRED and LAZY to go someplace else...and you?...you go to some Goodwill store and find a great game. Where does the energy come from? :)

Great find! (Just got my first Genesis after Christmas and building up around 30 games I really want.) Pirates Gold with a map...for $3...that's good!

If the DVD portion of Mech Assault is any good, I would like to loan it from you. ;) I was carrying around that copy yesterday (it was the last in the store) but put it down because I have the regular version. I really wanted the LE as I like the bonus material on stuff a TON, but didn't want to pay $9.98 for it :)
