in the past 3 months 2 of the Gamestops in Palmdale CA have had a total of at least 5 copies of Rhapsody: a Musical Adventure
(first time in years that I have seen one) 3 copies of Persona 2 (haven't seen too many of those) last I checked there were still 3 Rhapsody and 3 Persona 2 left

Ok, what's your point?
There were reprints of a few PS1 games. That's why some have been showing up more often.

Yes there have been reprints of these titles.
but...
I feel your pain though. Where did all these Rhapsody's and Persona 2's come from all of a sudden? As soon as the re-release, these titles (used) poped up like mad at every Game Stop (in Detroit area).

My local GameStop had some Breath of Fire IVs and a couple of the rare Dragonball Z reprints. Picked up a BoF IV myself (not sure if that was a reprint)...

This has already been talked about in another thread. Yes, GameStop are getting quantities of BOF IV, Persona 2, Saiyuki Journey West, and Rhapsody. Reprints. They have to mark them as used but they are new (their systems don't recognize new ps1 games anymore). EB Games are getting them too. Look on ebay....they are all over. Rumour has it Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile are on their way (dunno when). So if you own those two, sell them now to get your money's worth.

Sweet, looking forward to getting those finally...at a fraction the price! :D
Valkyrie Profile especially...that is one insanely expensive game.

Suikoden II will be mine! If it's only $19.99....

What about Super Puzzle Fighter II. A GameStop near me magically recieved at least 6 coppies of this game and was selling them for $30 each. I didn't find the price worth it, but still they flew off the shelves within a month. I also saw a Persona 2 as well that only lasted a week, but was also $30.

I must be out of the loop, I never recalled hearing about out of print titles being reissued.

Ah the joys of the CD/DVD gaming era where any game can be re-released if demand for it is great enough.
So with all of the recent reprints, other than Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile what's currently the most valuable game out there for the PS1/PS2/Gamecube/Xbox?

Not a PS1 game I know, but I do have a story to tell about Cubivore...
I had played a copy belonging to the one remaining cousin that can still stand me, and after returning home to pick up the copy sitting at the local EB (that was $19.99 when I left) it was $39.99! All because the lousy reprint happened when I was out of town and I had no previous chance to test the quality of the game.
No intention of picking up either Suikoden II or Valkyrie Profile... played them all the way through and was not impressed. You may now begin the stoning.

I knew something had to be up. I found Rhapsody, Persona 2 and Castlevania: Chronicles in the same bargain bin. I passed on Persona for cost reasons, but I still felt pretty lucky.
Then, a couple weeks later, I'm scouring the same bin and find about half a dozen Persona 2s and Rhapsodys.

Puzzle fighter wasn't reprinted, a Capcom warehouse was just cleared out and apparently had a bunch load of copies.

When one fo the new GameStops around here opened up i was going thru their bins and found 5 Persona 2s and Rhapsody copies at least.
I didn't think much of it to be honest.
A local shop has had 2-3 vopies of Persona 2 for ages and i think the same number of copies for Rhapsody.
It does suck that they go and reprint these games though.
As for the person who mentioned BDZ Final Bout.
I was under the impression the reprint was worth garbage?
It did drop the value of the original but that will probably climb up again (if it hasn't already) because it is the much rarer variation.
I'm sure this has been rehashed many times, but I highly doubt there will be a reprint of either Suikoden II or Valkyrie Profile. People who swear this is happening either: desperately want a copy of these games or; are jealous of people who do have these games and out of sheer spite would love to see the market value plummet.
Nothing personal, but if you have read PS1expert's many other laughable posts, you would understand that he is by no means an expert or has any inside info.

Exactly what I was going to say. It's a completely bullcrap rumor. There has been absolutely nothing to indicate a reprint of them happening (and didn't we all come to the conclusion months ago that the Rhapsody and Persona 2 copies had to be refurbished or old unsold stock, not reprints?)
You chances are better to get US releases of the Suikoden I & II and Valkyrie Profile ports on PSP, but since there's no word on those yet, I wouldn't hold your breath.

If this comes true, I'll be buying them in a heart beat.

There seems to be a trend lately of reprinting older out of print games. I really doubt that it's a coincidence that they just happened to find old stock of ; Persona, Rhapsody, Journey West, Rez, Cubivore, and Gitaroo Man. What makes Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile so different?
I honestly believe that if developers see that a game is in demand and selling for a ton of money online then they'll reprint it. As long as it would be inexpensive to reprint and they can make money off of it why wouldnt they? Let's be honest, printing CDs and labels isn't the most difficult or expensive thing in the world to do like it would be if they were cartridge based games

Seems like there are clearly 2 sides to this. Who to believe?
There's no crediable evidence on either side to support.

Exactly.
It's the holiday season, the Xbox 360 is in demand, many people can't afford it, so they trade in all of their old games. Expect some rares, like Stadium Events and NWC 1990 to show up among the SMB/DH carts.

Saiyuki was reprinted? The GameStop I work at is selling it for $30. What the deuce, man?
The one game I'd like them to reprint (although it is not on PS1), is Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, especially on PS2. People keep telling me it's down to $19.99 at Gamestops, but every time I go to get it, they seem to have jacked up the price to $10 more than I had seen it previously. It's up to $49.99 used now!

sounds like a bunch of people complaining that their games lost in value.
some people still need to understand that this is not a stock market.
becaus of this the neo geo market bloated up! and now its crumbling into pieces.

I concur.. and besides.. I don't give a rat's *ss what anybody says. I paid $100 for my copy of Suikoden II a couple of months ago.. and I thought I paid a "fair" price for it. All the reason MORE for me NOT to let it go for a lousy $25. I'm holding onto it no matter if it's worth 50 cents eventually. I buy my games for ME; not for resale. I'm still happy I have SII and I will continue to be happy I have it.. even if the value plummets. Telling people who paid hundreds of dollars for a HTF game to sell for next to nothing BEFORE a "supposed" market glut comes.. and following that advice.. is just plain stupid.

I hope they rerelease Suikoden II either for PSOne or PSP only because it's one of the last 5 PSX games I have to find. Which is fairly selfish but I'd rather not have to pay $100 if I don't have to.
I doubt there's anything to the release rumour though. As much as I wish there were. Oh well.

Well, like I said, one thing that makes them different is that both Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile are being ported to PSP, so if Konami or Square-Enix have ANY intention on bringing those ports stateside, they wouldn't do a PlayStation rerelease that would hamper sales of the port.
And speaking of the companies, none of those games you listed are from Konami or Square-Enix. Every company has their own methods of business. Like with Atlus, they always do conversative print runs, so it's normal for them to release more when the supplies have run limited.

Square is known to do reprints. 2 years ago they went along and did reprints of all their big name RPG's such as FF Tactics, Anthology, Chronicles, VII, VIII, IX as well as Xenogears, Vargrant Story(single jewel case). The main difference is that they were greatest hits(green border) and had the Square/Enix logo.
Also of note Square also re-released Tactics after the original game had reached triple digits on the online auction sites. Though this was also a greatest hits as well (this was at the time before the Square/Enix merger).
I don't know of Konami doing any re-releases though as it was stated that if the Suikoden colltection (PSP) is released state side it is very doubtful that they would re-release Suikoden II. I beleive this would hold true with Valkyrie Profile as well. The PSP VP is to have added content and what not. It appears that Sony is really pushing developers to release desirable apps for the PSP. Hell, they got me sold, especially if Gradius collection comes state side...II and Gaiden in the US for the first time.....unbeleivable....

Just widescreen support and a little bit of FMV, nothing to get too excited over. :P And maybe a scene that will link it to the upcoming prequel.
