I was looking over the rarity guide for NGPC, and I noticed there was 1 released in US and not in Europe, and a stonking 13 titles released in europe and not in America.

Anyone got some kind of a reason for this, and is this the only console to be so kind to us Europeans?

Thanks for reading.

I think SNK was in the process of completing the full production of the US titles right before they closed their doors.

Actually all 31 US releases were sold in Europe. You are probably overlooking the fact that Bust-a-Move is called Puzzle Bobble in Japan and Europe. As there were 39 colour releases and 5 b&w releases in Europe (though the debate still continues on that they were really Hong Kong versions), then yes that would be 13 not out in the US.

I think SNK loves Europe more, indeed. After all, they are getting all of the same PS2 games by SNK-Playmore that Japan is. We're getting... jack squat.

^ We have SCEA and their hate against 2D games and the fact that in order to release a 2D game in the U.S., the company has to either charge peanuts for the game (remember Castle Shikigami 2 for $9.99?), or make it a compilation (ala Metal Slug 4 & 5) to thank. SCEE seems much more leanient. Heck, the Europeans get quite a bit of shmup releases even!

What's confusing is, I've heard both sides of that debate. O_O Official word from SNK is, it's SCEA's fault. I emailed SCEA, and they said SNK were the ones who chose not to release them on PS2.

It's mutual in a way. SCEA wants the games to be sold at a bargain price unless SNK Playmore doubles up the games up onto one disk (ala KoF 2002/2003). SNK Playmore dosen't want to do this, and instead, they wan't to charge $40-$50 for one game on one disk. While I personally wouldn't buy a KoF for $50, I don't see why SCEA has to be a dick and completely refuse SNK's price setting. The only company that will get screwed over in the end is Playmore themselves (because only die hard SNK fans will buy their games up at $50 a piece while we frivilous folks here will wait for a sale or mark down :)). They are publishing their own games after all.
