View Full Version : why get a Xbox 360 when you can get a N-Gage for $499

*I brought this up in the N-Gage thread but I thought the rest of you who don't look in there could use a good laugh.

this is just crazy x_x why Nokia thinks people will buy a $499 version of the QD with a silver face plate is beyond me. you can already be one of ten people to have a N-Gage if you just buy the $99 one LOL I should know I'm one of them.

If they were going to do something like this they should have at least covered it with a Beadazzler or something to make it look really tacky but expensive.

I think this is a sign that Nokia has completely stopped trying to sell to the masses and just focus on the very small niche market of users they have.

I'd read more about it, but I don't see any in-depth information on the site about this particular item, and it doesn't even look like an official Nokia thing (see the copyright notices).

its official. Nokia showed it off at E3 then decided to only sell it in the UK. I guess they've decided to sell a few in the US as well. n-gage.letstalk.com is the official (while terrible) seller in the US.

That's odd, it's copyrighted as if it's a wholly independent entity, and again clicking on the item for more information brings up a little window about general QD information. Eh...

Well Im sure it will go down as a very rare variation on a gaming system though, only 10 made for the US?

they made more than 10. they're just being stupid and only offering 10 to the US market. its been for sale for sometime in the UK in fact if anyone really wants it for say $300 less you can import it from HERE (http://ngage.allack.co.uk/NGage_Extras/Buy_NGage_Hardware_Detail.php?ProductID=344&pageNum_ProductList=&totalRows_ProductList=&ZoneID=USA&SubCategoryID=Hardware)

How is this worth 5X the full retail value of a QD? Not only that, but you have to order cell service through Lets Talk when you buy it, adding another few hundred to the cost. This thing sells in Europe for the normal QD price. I just don't get it. Lets Talk/Nokia are insane.

Dude I heard the ngage has a snes emulator dudes , ah wait.. psp already does works better and its cheaper and its freakin psp. :)

Also, what's stopping someone from just reproducing the silver faceplate and switching it with a normal QD? This is probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen video game wise.

so some kid over on the N-Gage boards got to the bottom of this crazy price. Its actually free if you get it with a 2 year cell phone plan. it was priced overly high to make it seem more expensive which is something they do a lot of in the cell phone world.

Wait, where's the part of the article where they explain the differences with the thing?

It seems to have a smaller frame (that or the screen is bigger), as the screen is larger in comparison to the frame than on the other QD they're showing (which I assume is a reference pic). That article confuses the hell out of me.
