This probably was asked before, but I couldn't find it searching.
Has anyone used a US ac adapter on a UK snes?
The UK snes takes 9VAC and the US takes DC.
Will the DC power adapter do damage, since it should be AC going into it?
I understand the difference in power, UK is 220 or so volts but I was wondering if the US adapter will work without having to buy a step-up transformer.
I'm reluctant to try the US adapter I have because of the different current.
Cheers

It will work fine. The AC adapter only gives out 9v anyway, even if it gets 110v or 220v in. I used a european NES AC adapter on a US NES today acctually and it worked fine.
I have also used a european Megadrive AC adapter on a Japanese Neo Geo because both uses the 10v or something.
As long as the machine gets 9v it should work. Try it at your own risk, i dont take any responsibility hehe :) But as I said, I've tried it myself and it works fine.

Well I did try but the nes adapter won't even fit. I don't believe it.
Its the nes adapter for sure because the snes is way to big.
It won't go over the center pin on the UK console.
Looks like I have to get a step-up transformer.

Why would I lie about it? :P
There are diffrent AC adpters for NES. I used a Bergsala (scandinavian) AC adapter. It fits on a USA NES perfectly. But a french or german (possibly UK) NES AC adapter wont fit. Tried to use the Bergsala AC adapter on a french and german NES, didnt fit.
So ye, just get a universal AC adapter if your AC adapter wont fit. But then you need to have a 110v to 220v converter or vise versa.

I never thought you lied. :)
I just wasn't sure if I should try it or not.
Your reply was enough for me to give it a go.
oh well, I guess I'm back to square one.
Thanks for the info

Ah ok, missunderstood you then hehe.
Im not sure how it is with the AC adapter on SNES tho, if the tap that you insert to the machine is diffrent on the US and European machines.

if your talking bout using an US SNES adptor on a UK snes, yoru good to go man. look at both bricks. they both output the same 10v's at like 850ma i think, +i've personally tried it. it's cheaper to use your current one than a step up transformer

No probs jajaja
The tip is different on US compared to UK snes.
It's not a big deal.
I was wondering how others did it.
So thats what I'll have to do Skyway, is get a step-up transformer.
