donkey kong 3.
I remeber renting it and going through about 10 levels without dying, then shutting it off after I figured out it was just looping.

Crystal's Pony Tale for the Genesis. Easiest game in the entire world! Not only can you not die, but there are hints all over the game, as if it's not easy enough on it's own! I know it's a kids game, but I love it all the same.

Chalk another vote up for Ecco Jr as well. I was playing that when Dreamcaster was over at my place, and we couldn't stop giggling over how fast I was getting through it.

Hmmm

Where's Waldo? - NES
~You don't even have to look at the screen to win.

Donkey Kong Country - SNES
~My stress reliever. I have deep conversations while playing it.

Rhapsody on PSX. I played it on normal difficulty, my god was that the easiest RPG, let alone one of the easiest games I have ever played. Advice to anyone who wants to try it out, definitly play it on hard for any kind of challenge, as on normal I never died once.

Atari 2600:

Pacman: Once you figured out the pattern for Pacman, you could play that game forever.

Laser Blast by Activision: You just line your guy up off center to the left and sequentially shoot what comes from the screen from the left side. You don't have to move or anything, just sit there and hit the fire button. I did this for almost 3 hours until I just got completely bored with it.

Arcade:

Jungle Hunt: The easiest arcade game I ever played. Granted, it was the same few screens repeated, but the patterens of the ropes, rocks, Jumping over the Oooga Booga guys, was just too darn easy.

Amiga:

Walker: Still one of my favorite games for the A500, but also the easiest. From start to finish without a scratch, and the game is not that long.

Easiest games I've ever played:

Max Payne (XBOX)

Halo (XBOX)

Hardest games I've ever played:

F-Zero GX (Gamecube)

Ninja Gaiden (XBOX)

I still haven't completed either.

I'm going with a SNES game called GunForce. I got the game a few months ago and when I got home to try it out, I ended up beating it in under 8 minutes. It was extremely short and easy. Despite this, I kept it (Got it for $3) and put it on the shelf with all my SNES games and thought it was a fun game worth the money. Maybe I'll play it again sometime in the future.

The second easiest is, as NinjaJoey23 said, Where's Waldo? on the NES. Although it takes a bit longer than 8 minutes to get through the few pictures, it got difficult at the end where they had the crap load of Waldos hanging out on the screen. It was rough finding that little booger on a small screen.

Well without giving it much thought... or trying to sound cool by saying that RPG's are the easiest games you've ever played LOL Yoshi story for the N64 was definitly easy! 30 minute completion time and you actually had to try to die.

Just got Lego Star Wars this week and must say that it is one of the easiest games ever. You effectively cannot die, so it becomes a free for all. Sure, skill can be required to get a full Jedi meter in some stages, but it is beyond simple. The game was truly geared towards children though, moreso than I thought before actually playing through it. The note to parents in the manual was actually quite refreshing.

Regardless, it was very fun, and a nice benign way to revisit the important action sequences of the prequels without having to suffer through the films.

NES
-Bubble Bobble (semi challenging at the boss but 2 player is a snap)
-Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout ( you get way too many extra lives button mashing the slots at the end of each level)
-Mario is Missing
-Super Mario 1, 2, 3

SNES
-F-Zero
-Super Mario World

can't really think of anymore right now...

David: Catch the sheep, take it to the pen, repeat
Noah: Catch the animal, take it to the arc, repeat.

Very easy, but i still find myself playing it on my engage LOL (Emulated, *note i do own them)

Some of the most easiest games that I beat:

Blast Wind for the Saturn. Great music and all, beat it on my second try.

M.U.S.H.A for the Genesis. Purchase it complete for cheap, in less than a week I beat it.

Thunder Force III, same for M.U.S.H.A

Super Mario World

Sonic 1 and 2

Snatcher, beat it in three days.

And many, many more.... x_x x_x

TMNT IV Turtles in Time was pretty easy, though still lots of fun

Easiest:

Capcom Fighting Evolution for the PS2, I set it on the hardest mode and beat the thing first try without even losing a round using Ryu. I was like wow that was it...

Turrican 2 on the Amiga, beat the whole game during my second play, first play I actually got to the last level without realizing it.

Hardest:

Gradius 3 Arcade (Try it on MAME or PS2) - What in the world was Konami thinking of making this shooter so damn hard. The fire level was rediculious, the tetris kind of level (8 I think), Moai level boss (how can you avoid all those exploding moai heads that grow big when you shoot them). This game in my opinion is the hardest shootemup. Remember you can't do no up up down down etc on the arcade version.

mickey's safari in letterland for NES. there is absolutely no way to die or lose a turn or restart a level or anything. enemies don't hurt you. collecting the letter gems isn't mandatory to beat the levels.

YOU CAN HONESTLY BEAT THIS GAME BY HOLDING DOWN 'RIGHT' ON THE CONTROLLER.

my three-and-a-half year-old beat it yesterday, and she was able to collect all the letter gems (not mandatory). SHE'S THREE-AND-A-HALF!!!

The Typing of the Dead. With decent typing skills, I don't see how you could lose unless your fingers fell off. I play through it from time to time to hear the crappy dialog.

Metroid: Zero mission seems to be extremely easy, too. I beat that in under 45 minutes on any difficulty, and if it's on easy, you only need about 4 super missle shots on Meta Ridley to beat it. Off topic, has anyone noticed that in the questions in the latest NP it asks what the order is that you beat the bosses in Zero Mission? They don't realize you can beat Kraid/Ridly backwards. I figured I'd write to them, but they'd probably try to tear me up with their reply.

Super Mario Bros is EXTREMELY easy once you know the timing of everything. I run through that in about 6:30 or 7:00 depending on how much I screw up.

Tekken games.
House of the dead games.

Cardcaptor Sakura for the Dreamcast is ridiculously easy. Only 5 stages and all you have to do is spin around and hit the button when the right thing is highlighted.

Pocket Tennis Color for the NGPC. Stupidly easy and no harder difficulty settings and the AI doesn't seem to improve with different tournaments or anything. Still a really fun game though :)

Yeah, but remember what it was like before you knew it inside out? I can still remember the first time I got to level 8-3. I was so amped and I was over at a friend's house and everyone (including my friend's parents) crowded around the NES to see and it was so weird how like there was a castle right there at the beginning of a level and so few obstacles. Crazy brilliant design, level 8-3. The I got to those damned hammer bros, so we didn't see 8-4 that day. A couple weeks later another of our friends finally did beat the game. I still hate hammer bros., they're about the only things that can ever get me in SMB1.

I sometimes wonder why it is that some of those games that seemed so hard back when I was a kid are just a breeze today. Like all the way back to the 2600, games like Donkey Kong or Space Invaders were just crazy hard, but these days I fly right through them. Can it really all be down to practice?

Yeah, the AI in that game is incredibly lame. You have to totally handicap yourself by not setting up certain shots if you want to get any challenge out of it. If you can find a copy, get the B&W Pocket Tennis game, it's a slightly different game (not enough for the Color version to be considered a sequel, more like a remix or something) and it actually has smarter AI.

Easiest: Super Mario World, beat it the same night.
Wacky Races was fairly easy, too.

The hardest: Holy diver. Holy shizzzza that is hard.

PentiumMMX
04-06-2006, 01:55 PM
Pokemon: Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, Crystal, Stadium, Stadium 2, Trading Card Game, Snap(beat it in 45 mins and returned it to the store in disgust) think that covers all the ones i have played and beat.

WTF? I took me 40 hours to beat Pokemon Blue! (With leveling up)

Sonic 3 was easy. Sonic 2 was hard due to the length of the game but Sonic 3 was far too easy. I actually found re4 too easy on normal, it was better on hard.

Yeah, Sonic 3 was easy until you lock it onto Sonic & Knuckles. Then it has a decent difficulty. BTW, Doomaday Zone was a bitch!

Anyway, here are the easiest I've played:

Cubix: Robots for Everyone: Race 'n Robots (GBC):
I beat it within 2 hours of purchase, and I unlocked everything! Every Robot, Every Track, every single friggin' thing in the game!

Barney's Hide and Seek Game (Genesis):
I beat it without even touching the controler! Barney moved on his own and reached the end if the level while I was playing "Zelda: Link's Awakening DX" on my Game Boy Color! That freaked out my younger cousin! LOL x20

Super Mario Land (GB):
I've gotten so good at this game, I can beat it in 30 minutes! No crap! (BTW, it took my 2 hours to beat it the first time)

Luigi's Mansion (GCN):
I beat in 2 days of purchase, but I still loved it!

Yoshi's Story (N64):
If you eat every fruit that comes your way, then it's easy.

...and the Hardest:

Mega Man 5 (NES):
It keps handing by butt to me, though I am close to unlocking Beat soon, which will probably help.

Puss N Boots for the NES. Just got this game for my 5 year old to play. Very easy and an enjoyable game.

NES:
Dragon Spirit
RBI Baseball versus computer (home run derby)
Bases Loaded 4 versus computer (always throw the same pitch for strikes)
most NES/SNES/Genesis sports games versus computer

For me, Laser Blast lasted forever until I changed the difficulty setting from default (easy). I'm lucky to get 1,000 points on higher settings.

NES:
Dragon Spirit

You must be a good shmup player. I love the game so I've played it a ton and have gotten really good at it, but the stage in which the lights go out can be a real pain. So can the final stage too at points. I even struggle a little bit on the ice stage sometimes. It is a cakewalk compared to the arcade version, though. The original is just ridiculous.

Anyway, I'd say:

Castlevania: SotN
Rhapsody
Rescue Rangers
Solatorobo
Super Mario Land
Final Fantasy VII
Super Mario World
Mappy-Land
Wurm
Stinger and TwinBee 3
Donkey Kong Country
Quest: Brian's Journey
Farland Story
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
Neugier
Super Wagyan Land
Mario Kart 64
Ocarina of Time
Star Ocean: First Departure

Really? Maybe it's just me, I have no problem tearing through that game. (usually just using the mega buster as well for most levels) Then again. I've only beaten it once or twice. I used to just pop that in and blaze some levels(favorite is gravity man) for shits and giggles.

Hardest: Anything by Absolute

Home Improvement-Snes
Goofy's Hysterical History Tour-Genesis
Home Alone 2-Nes

Easiest: Just about any Disney game by Capcom

Aladdin-Snes
Little Mermaid-Nes
Duck Tales-Nes
Talespin-Nes

Darkwing Duck might be a slight exception. Marginally tougher than the others.

Also add:

Super Mario Land 2-Game Boy
Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
Tigger's Honey Hunt
Disney's Tarzan

I have to disagree with some of these. The RPGs like Final Fantasy VII and Ocarina of Time only become "easy" if you have a guide or maybe are extremely experienced with those types of games. The average gamer would have had trouble in at least a couple places in each of these games.

Also: Water Temple.

After playing through and beating the original 6 last summer, yeah; MM5 isn't quite as hard as I remember it. Of course, anything seems easy when coming off from anything that's compared to Super Ghouls & Ghosts, like Prinny was

I don't even know what the game over screen for Twilight Princess looks like, so that would have to be one of them.

Actraiser, which is one of my all time favourite games, is very easy. Professional mode is plenty challenging, though, as is the SFC version of the game.

I remember Gunstar Heroes being very easy with the right weapon combo.

The problem with easy games is that I probably played through them quickly and then forgot about them.

I could concede OoT since, even though it's practically impossible to get a Game Over in, some of the puzzles are admittedly a bit tricky.

FFVII, nope, not budging. A big part of the reason why it was so popular was that it was easy enough for even an RPG newbie to play it without any problems, without a guide at all. Now if you're talking doing every last little thing in the game, like finding the best equipment and beating the Weapons, that's another matter, but those are completely optional tasks. Just beating the game and doing most everything in it is painfully easy.

Donkey Kong Country for the SNES. Beat it in 3 days when I got it for christmas the year it came out. That was the day that video games started to be "dumbed down" so to speak so that basically anyone can play, IMO. A sad day indeed.

Desert Demolition: I blazed through the Roadrunner levels on my first try when I was 9 or 10. I think playing the game as Wile E. may have been slightly harder, but I remember it being super easy overall.

Dead or Alive and Dead or Alive 2-Probably the two most idiot-proof fighters ever made.

I'm currently playing through (modern) Castlevania games for the first time (I hadn't played a 3D one since that abomination on the N64), and I just finished Lament of Innocence, and it was ridiculously easy. I beat every single boss except the first I encountered (Medusa) and the final boss, the very first time through with life and items galore to spare. I didn't even get half of the weapons and items/relics and just flew through the game. Should they be required to advance? I feel like I wasted 15 hours of my life. Well 7 anyway. I'm sure I could have gone through it in just 8 hours in retrospect.

I'm starting Curse of Darkness next. I really hope it's better than Lament.

One I didn't mention in my old post (Which was a blast from the past; seeing a post I made back in '06) was Mickey Mouse Magic Wands.

As much as I enjoy that game, I do have to admit it was painfully easy; the only way I ever saw the game over screen was by intentionally trying to fail, which was almost harder than playing the game normally. Even my first time through, I only had minimal problems

I think one of the easiest games of all is

The Great Waldo Search

for SNES. All you gotta do is click on Waldo and the scroll in under the time limit and the level is cleared. Waldo's level with "over 9000!" Waldos can be tricky at first until you memorize the five possible locations of the Waldo with the missing shoe.

Even though it's an extremely enjoyable game, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is very easy. While easy enough with Richter, it quickly slips into easiest game territory after you've unlocked Maria. It took me around an hour to get 100% in the game, and that was the first time I'd decided to play through it.

Also, I would like to echo Yoshi's Story on the N64. Anticipating a title on par with Yoshi's Island, I remember renting it shortly after release, and then I beat it in almost no time at all. Its easiness was so disappointing to me that I have never played the game since March of 1998.
