ok.

I installed an xecuter 2.6CE. did everything according to the instructions:
I used the pin header.
I did not scrape d0.
I did find d0.
When i turn the chip off i can boot an original xbox game and play,
if i turn it on, i get a rolling screen. it's blue, with some text that's all fucked up jumping around in the background, obviously rolling so fast i cant read it.,
I only have a component video cable.

Any ideas?

Have you flashed a bios to it? Other than the FlashBios 3.0.3 that it comes with? The default bios loaded on the 2.6 chip doesn't have support for component and will cause that problem. Use the standard cables to put a different bios in the second bank and boot with that.

Hmm, I should have read to the bottom of your post (only component cables). Do you have the separate programmer for the chip? You'll need either that or the standard cables to get it to a point where you can see what you are doing.

Out of curiosity, are there any other solutions besides getting the 'stock' cables or using an outboard flasher?

son of a bitch, i'll have to go BUY a fucking a/v cable.
Oh well, i have some game crazy store cred, i'll call them and go there.

also: I'm doing 2 xboxes here.
in my panic, i attempted to scrape the bottom of d0 and scaped d0 right off the bottom of one board, are there any odds i can still get it running off the top of the board? :\
