I was just wondering if there were any other fans of this series and what happened to it.
Do you think there is a chance of it returning?
And what do you think prevented it from becoming a big hit?

The series just gradually went down hill, with Kengo: Master of Bushido (while not an official part of the series) apparently being the worst...and then Light Weight went off the deep end and did Kabuki Warriors (http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/531881.asp) for Xbox.... haven't played Kengo 2 or 3, so no idea how those are or if they're an even more drastic departure from the Bushido Blade formula.
The first game seemed to do pretty well. I used to enjoy playing it with friends all the time, even after the second game came out. The second game never really grabbed me...the changes to the combat weren't my cup of tea.

i love the first bushido blade, but they mess with part 2 so much that they ruined it andi while i only played the first kengo that game was pretty horrible. a game i like that kind of reminds me of bushido blade is Way of the Samurai 2.

I had fun with the first Way of Samurai, was part 2 very different?

I loved both of them. Some of my favorite fighting games of all time and really the most realistic weapon games ever.
I don't think they catch on with kids because it's all about timing and it can be over in a second which frustrates them.

very true. Thats the reason I like the game, timing. In fact I just got both 1 & 2 complete and mint from blockbuster yesterday for $3 each.

Wasn't a huge fan of Bushido Blade 2, but I liked Kengo and I LOVED the original!

I really enjoy the waiting, and killing with one blow.
I hope at some point something like this returns. After taking kendo you really can respect it.
I remember playing the games with my friends and we would have battles ranging from 5 seconds, to epic battles lasting a couple of minutes. It really was a fun series, hopefully they will revive it.

To me the suspense is killer in that game. If you can die in 1 blow you there is a heightened sense of urgency in every move you make.

i kept getting angry at them and sold them twice (because i'm retarded). i could never beat the slash mode correctly to unlock the gun dude, and there was a hidden character in the second game i couldn't get either (you control a guest character, and they can't continue if they lose a match).
