Accroding to IGN Nex is a great deal. It also comes with a digitpress rarity guide. :/

I like this part

Performance
Even better than the original. Plays NES and Famicom games. Has wireless controller support. Smaller and sexier. Puts sound out of both speakers. Rocks the retro scene.

ORLY?

I like mine but I think IGN needs to hang around the "Retro" scene a bit more if they think that is true.

Do we really need another thread on this? We all know what's going to happen...

Pointing out the intelligence (or lack thereof) of IGN's reviewers has been done to the death. ;)

Meh, I'd buy it if I had no original NES, but then I'm not a frothing spazmatic about my systems.. if it plays, good enough.

financially motivated if you ask me, but it wont be the first or last time IGN totally misses the mark on something x_x

I'm still waiting to see if the compatibility hasn't been improved.

Sexier, though? Looks squashed to me LOL

At least when people play the NEX and realize it's pretty crappy, they can take comfort in the excellent DP guide. I don't find that to be :/ at all. If it helps someone get into collecting and rediscovering the joys of retrogaming, then it has served its purpose.

In terms of the review itself, x_x . I spent less than 5 minutes with the thing at a local independent store and it left a really sour taste in my mouth.

Remember folks: you can't spell 'ignorance' without IGN.

So why don't you all like the NEX?

Also, how are their controllers?

I know it's Christmas Eve and all and I should keep a somewhat civil tongue lest I piss off Santa tonight, but use the friggin' seasrch engine above if you're that curious. The multiple threads are all over the place. You're just being lazy and want someone to post the link for you.

Also, how are their controllers?

See comments above.

no offense to anyone, but i was shit on for not using the search engine as well, but after sifting through pages of useless crap that barely had any bearing on what i was looking for i wouldn't blame anyone for not using it, i can't afford the time to be a forum whore and spend hours researching every thing i post beforehand

*sigh* Fine, Sorry for the Ebeneezer-moment there. It's Christmas and joy to the world and all that.

See, it wasn't tough. It required no real looking (all of these threads were on the very first search-return page, as it was a heated topic at the time). Color me very, very tired of folks asking for very, very simple stuff. Plus, these threads hit several nerves, and dredging it up just causes my panties to bunch up.

Sorry about the abuse earlier. But I hope you understand that a little initiative will also go a long way.

The thing is, there wouldn't be "pages of useless crap" as you put it, if people would use the search function in the first place. That's kinda the whole point, to keep from endlessly fragmenting discussions to infinity and beyond. </Buzz>

Yet you can afford to be a forum drama queen? HOURS researching everything you post? Hardly. Look, we're just asking for a little help in keeping things organized here. We're not asking for a dissertation on forum use. Using the search function for 2-3 minutes can alleviate so many common re-postings. Like the NEX. Or "What's your favorite game?" Or, "What's your best find?" Or... etc., etc., etc.

If you've got the time to post here, then surely you have the time to do it right.

Fine. I don't view this forum daily, I've come back here after more than 2 years. How do I know this isn't the first thread on NEX? I see it, I open it, I post a question I think is very much in line with the thread topic; in fact, it was in response to a post in the thread. In fact, it seems that your vitriolic response should have been to the original poster for even making this thread. If this thread hits nerves, I know absolutely nothing about it and it's not my problem. A simple "this has been discussed before, just do a search" would have been more than enough. Happy Holidays.

Since I think adequate links to existing threads on this topic have been posted, I think it's probably a good idea to sic some 'bots on this one.
