About a year ago there was a huge lot of lightspan PSX games sold on eBay. I think of them as the aladin games for the NES.

So are you saying that the DP guide needs to be updated?
and that this would no longer be a R9?

Well, they were only released to schools to educate kids.

Hmmmm.... not really a PSX collector so I don't know how rare that game actually is. I'm sure these lightspan games are very rare but they're just not sought after by collectors. For example, if you look at the NES Aladdin games from Camerica they have a rareity of 7 but are only worth $10 loose. Flintstones Surprise at dinosaur peak also has a rareity of 7 but is valued at $75.

That's sorta like in the Atari community. Someone has found a few of the 8's and 9's, and selling them at a good price.

Sounds like it was lightspan stuff.

If you were looking at the DP Advanced guide (printed version), those at the time it went to print were all considered R8's. If you look at the online guide now (which is correct and much more up to date) you'll see that almost all of them are now R3's. Only a precious few deserve a ranking of the R6/7's. The average of the 100+ games is about 6 bucks per game, with the pricier ones really not market set, but 15-20 per is a decent start price.

Some background info:

Lightspan was an educational company that made edutainment games for schools and they were playable on the Playstation. The games are officially Sony sanctioned games, but packaged differently and focused on all kinds of different aspects of learning. All the games were made in house (Lightspans in house, not some other game company). They were not consumer available and were only purchasable by schools/home school programs, trust me I tried (My mom who is a teacher contacted them for me, 'representing' her school, they wouldnt even tell her a price and wanted to meet up and do a huge pitch to the school. We let it go considering we wernt going to be able to front the money thru the school to even try and buy em). Not to long after Lightspan was bought up and basically shut down.
