I recently disassembled my Playstation 2 Dual Shock controller to give it a cleaning, but a piece fell out and I can't figure out where it came from. The piece in question is grey plastic in the shape of a plus "+" measuring approximately 26mm across with small feet at the end of each prong. My first thought was that it fit beneath either the D-pad or buttons, but on attempting to reassemble the controller, there didn't seem to be room for it. I reassembled the controller without it, and it seems to work fine and the "feel" is the same. But does anyone know where it goes?

I remember seeing them when I unassembled a PS1 pad a long time ago. It belongs under the D-pad, canted at 45° relative to the D-pad. One of the prongs were shorter than the others but I don't know if that accounts to anything. It *did* seem to work just fine without it but I didn't feel like living my life in the fast lane so back it went.

Thanks for the reply. It didn't occur to me to try putting it at an angle. I did notice one of the prongs was shorter. I will try putting it back and see how it goes.

That did the trick. I didn't realize it went underneath the rubber pad with the switches. Once I figured that out, it fit right in.
Thanks again. +100 meseta for you. :)
