Holy shit! Some KID and his father don't know when a game comes out and thought you might have it in stock?!?!? Is that kind of question really that unusual?
Why in the world did this need it's own thread?

Wow I totally understand how you feel. Someone came to my job too and then they asked me to do my job and I was like WTF....do shit yourself I'm uber important. Next time you ask a question have some beer and a sandwich.
In all reality not that bad of a question for someone to ask. Not everyone is up to date on videogames.

it's not that bad a question, not everyone knows about release dates.
I mean it wasn't if they asked "yeah can I get mario kart for the psp" then you should've inserted your foot up their anal cavity

Hmmm, I wonder why game store employees get such a bad reputation...
I think I'll call all of the stores in town and see if they have an Xbox360 in stock... I might call twice just to make sure...

And i used to think the guy telling me all game systems "pretty much run on DOS" was a dumb comment.
You've won with that moronic game release question!

I've had the most rediculous questions ever asked "excuse me to do you carry...game box, or wait... play cube, no wait... xcube or maybe it was nintendo psp?", at least once a day I get someone asking me if we have any ps3's in stock or if there are any ipods that play psp games.

This shouldn't be a major issue. Believe it or not, most people don't rabidly follow news and release dates like we all do.
I work at a rental store, and people ask me all the time if we have movies that are still in theaters. Sometimes movies that aren't even in theaters yet. People see commercials for stuff, don't pay attention to release dates, and want to know if it's for sale yet. For those of us that work at retail or rental stores, it's our job to let them know. That's the job. Even if it gets annoying sometimes that people can't just pay a little bit of attention and learn these things for themselves, that's what we get paid for.
I get shit like this and I'm in the Hotel industry!

Well, if you think of it this way, little kids, say age like 10-14 write up their x-mas lists and give them to their parents in like october, and when they wrote the list the game was scheduled for december. Then 2 months later when the parent goes shopping, they don't know it got pushed back. How would they know? i get it alot also, but I tell you, I get far more people asking about advent children, last time i checked that, it was pushed back til like april. September release in the U.S. my ass.

I had a lady get real loud because her son asked if she would buy him an import Dragon BallZ game for psx "They werent released here yet" Her response was..
" What ?!? I aint gonna buy you no game with all that Chinese Writin on it when we are at WAR with the Taliban!"
I dont think someone unaware of a release date counts as that stupid. I ask if shit is out yet all the time at Game stores and the dude lets me know. Never got an attitude from them.

I like that...thats classy. LOL
That is right up there with that guy talking about game systems running on DOS.
"I wanna play Halo on my kids Gamecube"
"you can't sir, its only made the the XBOX"
"What difference does it make? They all run on DOS anyway."
Even a tag-team combo of myself and the knowledgable store associate couldn't convince this guy otherwise.
Good luck typing C/Halo on your PS2.

As a person that runs my own game store let me tell you what I tell my staff,
Suck it Up.
Simple, not everyone knows games, and for you information
this game has had so many delays that asking this question
is not at all that stupid, but maybe your reaction is.
If you where one of my employee and said that to me I would
fire you for not knowing/understanding the fcking industry you work in.
My 2 Cents Anyways :/

I work at a record store and we have people ask similar questions all the time too. It's not a big deal to me, not everyone knows why we don't stock $40 imports of their favorite bands or when the new Outkast album comes out (bumped to next year, kiddies!).
There is, however, one thing that gets on my nerves: how any human being that has been on this earth more than 20 or so years has not run across and come to an understanding of the term "out of print."
"Hey, ya'll got that ______ record."
"Nope, according to our computer it has been out of print since 1998."
"So ya'll ain't got it."
"Nope, the only way we'll be able to get it is if someone brings in a used one and sells it to us."
"So ya'll can't order me a copy?"
"Nope, it's out of print. Try Amazon or eBay, but it probably won't be cheap."
"Do you think [insert any other music store in town here] would have it?"
"I doubt it."
I go through that about twice a week, so it's not a major deal, but most of the time it's for stuff that goes for crazy prices online.

Wearing a full uniform (black steel-toe boots, black pants, Zeller's polo shirt, Zellers name tag), I get asked usually once a week if I work there... generally I say yes, not thinking, but I'd love to say "No, I just figured I'd steal this shirt from an employee, beat them, rape them, stick them in the trunk of my car, and take their job".
Too bad I can't :embarrassed: :(

I work at my college's library and am sitting behind the front desk and still get asked by morons "Do you work here?" I normally laugh and let them figure it out for themselves. Also I was shelving some books once and someone asked me that to which I replied sarcastically, "Nah I just like to shelve the books for fun" and they said "oh ok" and walked off.

These people can read?
I'm assuming you work in some form of game sales dept./store in which case I think your reaction is a little over the top. Now if you where to work in say a McDonald's and a kid and his dad just randomly come up to you and ask that ... well yeah i could view that as slightly out of the ordinary.

I used to work at a grocery store, so I had the uniform thing going on. I got the "do you work here?" thing probably once every 6 months to a year or so, but I always wanted to say, "No, but he does," and point to a guy in an identical uniform next to me.
At least twice I have been shopping in Wal Mart (where I have never worked) and had people ask where stuff was, like I knew.

Maybe the father didn't know.
Kids sometimes ask for things that don't exist yet. Our local paper had "Christmas lists" in one section and quite a few kids were asking for PS3s for Christmas.

We're not all experts. Ask anyone in the street, say, who Nolan Bushnell is, and you'll just get odd looks. Ask 1 of us, and we can give you his life history.
