Damm this is a real nice collection. Are you from germany or holland? How long did it take you to complete the whole small box collection? Was it hard or not?

jajaja
12-23-2005, 05:40 PM
Im from Scandinavia hehe ;)
Took about 1 year to get all. I dont remember which one that was hardest to find, I think Mario Bros and Donkey Kong. Most expencive was Hogan's Alley I think. Been a while since I bought it, but I think it was around $50.

Wow. That's sweet. Call me a n00b (or just an American collector focused way too heavily on Dreamcast stuff), but I didn't even know such existed.

Thanks for sharing. And congrats.

Agreed! These are very cool! I like the small boxes. So the carts don't have a slipcase like the U.S. versions? I also love the Metroid cover.

I remember having a loose SMB 2 cart with that dark Nintendo seal in (like the one on the DK Classics box). I wonder if that cart was originally from such a box.

Tnx :)
For Devil World ,first I bought a loose, but when I got it the box was also included. The manual I bought later, so total about 25 euro. Hogan's Alley I think it was 35 - 40 euro.

Ye, Devil World was only released in Skandinavia and Hogan's Alley too (not sure if it also was out in Spain). So that probly why they are harder to find in Germany :\

Hehe ye, they are about the same size as a Gameboy box. They are about 1cm (1 inch is 2.5cm) higher than a GB box.

Wow, that's so cool. I love the little tiny boxes. Not that I don't like the US taller ones, but there's just something about those smaller cartridge sized ones.

I almost freaked until I saw where they said "European Version" thinking that was something sold here in the USA. Well, I guess now I can say the first time I ever saw a small box was seeing your entire collection, sweet!

that is a GREAT collection. You are quite possibly the only person i know of that has all the small box euro NES games complete. Consider that one hell of a feat as i often search European ebay sites and come up with next to nothing for these titles.

Very awesome, they look absolutely beatiful. A complete smallbox collection must be every PAL collector's dream (mine too) and some of the games are pretty hard to find complete and in good shape. Congrats!

Trojan had a small box release? Interesting... :eek 2:

jajaja
12-26-2005, 02:28 PM
Trojan and Baseball also as smallbox? Damn! hehe.
I never heard of those. Please send me pics of them :)

Btw, are you sure they are smallbox? Come to think of it I never seen a smallbox from Spain, but on the other hand I hardly bought anything from Spain. If you have any pics please send me a pm with them :)
Or do you mean like this? I know Spain had some normal size boxes with the same artwork as the smallboxes.

No, Iīm referring to small boxes, like the ones on your collection.

I saw Baseball and Trojan only once on Ebay, and that was before I started to write the rarity list (just like with Gunsmoke), so I might be wrong on that ones (most probably). I "remember" they had small boxes, but Iīm not 100% sure, so forget them for now.

The ones Iīm sure were released in small box and you donīt have are Mach Rider and Rad Racer.

About the pics, sorry, I donīt have any one. I know it would seem like Iīm lying, but itīs true that I donīt have any proof of what Iīm saying :(

jajaja
12-26-2005, 03:21 PM
Ok, no problem :) I just wanted to see how they look like.
If there are more I must have them hehe. Thats why I wanted to see what they look like to be 100% sure they excist so I dont search for something that might not excist, like gunsmoke.
If you get any pics, please send me a pm.

About Rad Racer, I have been alittle unsure about it. I heard someone said it excist and someone who said it doesnt excist. I checked a while on ebay.de for it, but never saw it. If it was released as smallbox too the 3d glasses couldnt be included because of the size of the box.

If anyone can confirm that there are more smallbox releases please let me know.

Japan had the same artwork I think, but not the same boxes. There are some Hong Kong releases that also was smallbox. Carts are light grey and the boxes (most of them i guess) seems to be blue. I dont know too much about the Hong Kong smallbox releases.
Here is a pic of one Hong Kong smallbox and a cart.

Nice set! I have to say that even as a Nintendo fan, I never knew those existed, thanks for sharing those pics with us. I have to say that much of the cover art is far better than the US releases, especially Metroid, Super Mario Bros. and Pro Wrestling.

According to damon plus on this forum Donkey Kong Classics was also released in Spain. Im not sure if it makes it any easier to find, but atleast it got released in 2 countries. Wish I had the official release list of all NES games that got released in Spain.

Good luck with the last one :)

Very nice collection man!! I've also never seen this many different ones next to each other, looks great!

Also, to add onto what was said earlier, some Asian Version games were also released in small boxes as well. It's really a shame that the US didn't get any small boxes - I think they look much nicer ;)
