thats crazy... fool was talking about being in the video game industry since the 80s.... (he's in his mid 20s now) so it's a trip his dream did come true... so if you played GUN I wanna get your thoughts.... is it a quality game, etc.

it's funny coz we always think "oh i would do this or that" if i make a game, but how often do we play a game where we think "yeah, thats exactly what I would have done!".....

I want it really bad. Asked for it for x-mas and may get it later this week. If I do get it I will be sure to tell you what I think. Looks like an awesome game to me :-P

What was his role? Omg, do an interview, or better yet, gimme his email so I can ask him a few questions :D

Anyhow...yes, it's a very intriguing looking game, kudos to the wizards at neversoft for breaking the mold with this one.

I never played the game but I'm curious how he was he employed in the game industry in the mid 80's yet only be in his mid 20s now? 1989 was 17 years ago already, was he 10 when he was hired?

No he was just talking about it. Like a kid dreaming of growing up to be a fire fighter.

While I haven't played the game, I've seen many commercials for it on TV (I'd say, more than any other PS2 game recently). I remember thinking that it looked pretty freaky. Either way, with them running this many ads for it, they must think it has some sort of potential.

One of my flatmates has this game and plays it a hell of a lot. I've never actually played it but have watched him often. It seems a very fun game and I like the theme of it.

I enjoyed this game a lot, but it seemed to move at too fast a pace, and ended way quicker than I imagined :/

8/10

Dude the game looks cool and my dad has fun playing it on his comp. Anyways tell you cousin to make the kind of game that has graphics that last forever Id really like to see that from a game (ex: killer 7 , final fantasy 6 ,) (im not putting your cous down im just saying what would be cool to see)

I really enjoyed this game, if anyone here has played red dead revolver I highly recommend giving this game a try.

I really liked GUN, IMO it was really short. I was through the entire thing including all the side missions in about 12 hours. I was hoping for something on the scale of GTA San Andreas. But Really good all the same.

Well, Steven never posted a follow-up to my question, but it looks like the guy was on the team that ported the game to the PS2...anything further than that and I'd just be guessing blindly...

I've thought of getting it because I'm always saying that we need more western video games. I have the three current consoles (not counting the XBox 360, of course) and would probably get the XBox version if I got one unless someone informs me either the PS2 or GC version is better...

I was hooked on the gameplay and storyline, which were excellent. The length was way too short, there should've been a lot more sidequests, random events, and story missions. Even though the world was quite large, there wasn't really much to do when exploring besides fighting random bandits. The unlockables were kind of pointless since there wasn't really anything exciting to use them on. Still, I'd definitely pick up a sequel if one was created.

I have the Gamecube version and completed it in two days. It was enjoyable but like other's have said, way too short.

I found it at Best Buy for $29.99 and had that $10 off coupon thing that came in those XBOX 360 demo DVD's they were giving away so ended up with GUN for $19.99. :D

After purchasing it, I looked around a bit at other retailers and it was still $49.99 everywhere. Got a nice deal! 8-)

FPSes on consoles aren't my bag, so I doubt I'll ever play it.

But if he came up with the title, I'd kindly ask him to rethink his career choice. X_x

Um you know what FPS stands for right? and if so why are you refering to GUN as one?

GUN uses FPS style controls and the quick draw mode is in FPS so he does know what he is talking about.

Perhaps because Gun is partly a first person shooter...

Don't get me wrong here I see everyones point. Gun is not just an FPS though. Halo is an FPS. Half Life is an FPS. just because you go into first person mode sometimes does not make the game an FPS.

in fact if I recall correctly you only go into FPS mode when using the bullet time effect all other times your locking on and shooting in third person.

from two sites I've seen it reviewed on so far, it's classified as Western-themed action adventure and 3rd person shooter.

and to quote the main site.

I've made my case flame me more if you want.

Yeah I completely understand what you mean. I wouldn't classify it as a FPS either. All i'm saying is that portions of the game are like that.

I can't stand FPS console gaming either, but I thought the FPS aspect of the game was executed rather well. :P

Needless bickering...it's an FPS+third person hybrid.

Ooh, reminds me of that silly genre classification argument thread a while back.

Kung fu games vs ninja games. LOL

Umm. Wow.

...

But anyway, I do know what a FPS is, and that's what I thought Gun was. I have no interest in it, so that's what I figured it was. The most exposure I had to it was the big sign at E3, which made me say to Achika: 'Gun? What the fuck? Is that the name of a game?'. I took a guess. Gun. Shooter. Shooter. Gun. Close enough.

I'm sorry, but if Outlaw, a game made in 1977, has a better name than your game, maybe you should rethink the whole concept altogether. Like, they made this game, they invested a lot of time into it, and the only name they could have come up with was Gun? TRY, PLEASE, I BEG OF YOU - TRY.

My post, again.

Games with stupid fucking names aren't my bag, so I doubt I'll ever play it.

But if he came up with the title, I'd kindly ask him to rethink his career choice. ::Shocked::

It's available for $29.99 at Amazon.com, too...and I saw some of their Marketplace sellers have it for as low as $19 so I may finally order this game.

I got it a few days ago, and I'm enjoying it. The production is great, and really captures the mood of western. I do have some complaints.

First, the horses are just so disposable. Horses are traditionally important in westerns, and I feel that getting yours killed ought to have more consequence. Maybe your horse could level up the more you use it or something, so that you feel more compelled to protect it. As it is, they just spawn at the slightest need and will even change color when you reload your game. Give the horses some character.

Second, I got tired of seeing my current mission constantly flashing like a breaking headline at the top of the screen. It was distracting and took away from the open ended feel.

Third, the side missions aren't interesting me much. Each mission within the various types feels exactly the same so far. I would also like the missions to be more integrated with the game world and maybe the main quest. Somehow, when they load it makes them seem disconnected from everything else.

Overall, it's a very good game well worth its cost, and I'm looking forward to the sequel. One of the best western themed games made.
