So I finished Bard's Tale for the PS2. Doesn't really remind me much of the EA classic I played on the C-64 but it was fun. I like the smart ass commentaries through out the game.

So what other games have some smart ass barking at you every time you screw up?

So far we have

Bard's Tale (PS2/Xbox)
Gex series (3DO/PSX/N64)
ssx3 (Cube/PS2/Xbox)
Broken Helix (Ps2/Xbox)
Spiderman (PS2/Xbox/Cube)
Destroy All Humans (Xbox/Ps2)

Evil Dead (i don't recall this on the PS1/DC version) Which Evil Deads have this?

Kids today. Yes it's great and it's a 3DO game too. Although i like that the n64 versions don't have nasty loads like the 3DO version can.

I meant "for N64" and not "from N64".

I'll plug in one of the N64 gex titles tomorrow I need to test a few hundred N64 controllers anyway.

Just about anything with Bruce Campbell doing the voices will have smart ass comments. Evil Dead games, Broken Helix, ect.

Destroy All Humans has a nice running commentary between your leader and yourself.

Also, everytime you pause the game it will taunt you with insults to come back.

I've played quite a bit of burnout 3 on the xbox. Ok it was a proto and not the released version but I don't recall this at all. Where is that at?

Discworld should probably be on this list. I haven't played the second one but the first definitly applies. Never mind when you actually screw up, since this is a point and click you get smart ass comments just from trying to do something stupid.

The Rayman series has some of this at times, especially during tutorials.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 (PS2)

And if you extend this to trivia games, the You Don't Know Jack series has a wise-cracking commentator/host.

Tribes Aerial Assault for PS2, though really it's not half as insulting as just how bad that game is.

R/C Stunt Copter's (PS) commentary will have you tearing your hair out- if you dont smash the TV screen first.

Your opponents in Midnight Club 1 & 2.

I'm amazed no one has mentioned Cybermorph yet.

"Avoid the ground."

"Where did you learn how to fly?"

Unlike most of the others though, Cybermorph's smart-ass comments aren't funny... and if you have the 1MB version of the game, they just grate on you like crazy. Great game, horrible commentary.

Planescape: Torment.

You cant miss him in the retail version, he's the 'dj' who talks before races, during them (while interupting songs) and after them. Some of what he says is meant to help you discover the Signature Takedowns and stuff like that, but MAN is he annoying. I'm glad they dropped him from Burnout Revenge.

The Guy Game commentary is interesting to say the least... Not only are the 'announcers' horrible, but when you pause the game the lady is just as much fun.

If you've ever seen [or perhaps, been] a loser who can't dance at the arcades, you'll surely remember the dance machine, most likely of Konami origin, insulting him/her for those terrible moves.

I vaguely remember a game called Apocalypse from the PS1, having a bunch of wisecracks in it. It starred a mo-cap Bruce Willis.

I was really excited when it came out, and I remember the 1st stage lived up to my expectations. Unfortunately I played past the 1st stage. What a bummer...

Wii Fit goes beyond smart ass commentary to hurting little kids feelings by calling them obese.

Gradius gaiden and to a lesser extent gradius 5, whenever you lose all your lives the narator says something fairly insulting.

"poor boy"

"its really hard isn't it?"

"you need more practice"

"Come on! we're just getting started"

Extending to classic games... Sonic Spinball had a few mild smartass comments. Ballz had it via a billboard in the background.

The player characters in Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance II say annoying things if left idle for too long (eg. "If I have to wait any longer, I'm strangling you with that controller cord!"), or the player tries to pick up an item that exceeds their character's carrying capacity.

The Space Quest series is famous for dicking you everytime you die. The Many Deaths of Roger Wilco (http://tmd.alienharmony.com/rw/) has most of them listed.
