View Full Version : Resident Evil Zero, who can tolerate it?

Seriously, this game makes me cuss worse then George Carlin during his early years.

There are so many things wrong with it and yet so many cons to this, like the pretty graphics and detail, seeing William Burkins and Wesker in the same room, revisiting the Secret Umbrella Lab from RE2 (Part of it).

My favorite personally, is seeing STARS Bravo Team before they were all 86'ed

It tries to connect with the series, yet faills short when you reach the end. Especially when Rebecca looks so surprised in RE1 from seeing one stinkin' Hunter versus the 2 dozen she faced in RE Zero....

What are your thoughts on this odd ball title?

I love the game but i've never actually beaten it. Why you ask? Because the typewriter before the Second to last boss is in a fucking horrible spot.

Some of the connections to the rest of the series fall short, especially when chris has to save Rebecca, but when you sit down and take a look at how some of the other games tie together, it's more par for the course.

I agree, that was a terrible spot to save by far!

It's the only traditional RE I've ever beat (although I beat RE4 close to a dozen times). It's just confusing and boring. It has it's memorable moments, but the whole two characters thing really drags the game down.

i liked it, and beat it... *ducks* .. but then again its the only resident evil ive ever played.. so my opinion counts for nothing.
sounds like im missing out, i need to pick up the other games... ive got RE4 on the way, but i know that game isnt particularly like the rest of the RE's. oh well, cant wait for RE DS!

Play REmake, you'll enjoy it.

its not as brilliant as REmake. in my opinion, capcom should have released 0 first, so the excitement would be inclining as opposed to returning to a less frantic pace. i thought the train segment was pretty solid, though.

That part made me so happy. I was sitting there, cursing Capcom for not remaking RE2 then.

RE0 is infuriating to me, mainly for the absolutely idiotic way the game handles items. The good ol' bottomless trunk from RE1,2,3, and CV worked just fine and then they had to go and ruin it with the "leave it where ever you want" system of item management.

I probably spent 30% of the game picking up items from one location and bringing them back to another location. It gets me angry just thinking about it. Oh well, at least it looked nice.

Wow, I had no idea this opinion was out there. I bought it at release and loved it. Beat it, played the extras. Just as I have every RE game. I don't know, I guess I don't pay that much attention to the series continuity and such, as those issues didn't bother me. Nor did the item management, etc. I just expect the RE series to be unwieldly and a genreal pain-in-the-ass to play. I still love 'em though.

Great game not as great as other but still up there. I like the item management, really made things eayer for me. I dropped items were they were easy to get and I found the dual charictor theme fun.

Except at one time. I was playing the guy, forgot his name, and he just got his leg laso'd by a mutant frog, the frog is pulling him towards its' mouth, mean while rebecca is just standing there watching. Not shooting just watching as he is slowing being dragged then eaten by the mutant frog. Such a pathetic death.

I liked Resident Evil Zero, it had good old RE feel to it. Like said before though, the only annoying thing about it is taking the items back and forth like 3 times in the game. But I have beaten the game about 3 times, unlocked infinite ammo etc, great game, but REmake is definitly better

RE 0 was OK but one of my least liked Resident Evils overall.

I agree that it had a good traditional RE "feel" to it but there were many gameplay elements that just didnt work all that well.

The two greatest RE games made thus far are:

RE4 (PS2/GC)
and REmake (GC)

but RE0 is my second least liked RE after RE2 -flame on- again LOL

Am I the only one that has no idea WTF REmake is? I've never even heard of it, link?

I had no problems with RE0 myself, I can't remember ever having to move items from point a to point b, then from b to c, etc... I just used what I had on me. I wish they would re-do RE 2,3,veronica like they did with RE1. I can't go back and play older games I've never played before, drives me nuts for some reason. Replaying games I've played before, no problem. Playing a new older game (especially PS1 era) almost impossible.

REmake is of course RE1 remade for the gamecube

but I honestly haven't played RE0 I've wanted to but just haven't got around to it,

hopefully soon though.

Ahh :) I always just referred to it as RE1 (as opposed to just RE) or RE1 for the gamecube.

My copy of RE0 is still sealed... LOL

I'd like to get around to beating REmake first.

I only have RE 4 and quite frankly that's all i need. The camera and controls in the other ones just killed the game for me.

RE 0 was awesome. I liked the flow of the action, partner swapping. Missed the box and Jill, but liked the rest.

Personally I found the REmake too difficult. RE0 was perhaps a bit easy.

RE4, RE3, and RE0 are my favourite games of the series.

I'm still playing through REmake (taking my time...haven't booted it in a while; I need a new copy as well), and the difficulty on hard seems just right. :)

I LOVE The RE Remake. I haven't managed to get through the garden part (With the Mutated Gardner) Course I haven't played it in over 2 years. guess I need to give it another go. I remeber I had bought the Very first one when it first came out for the PS Long box and all. I managed to play through that whole game without a memory card.

man I loved it :)

I have some good RE0 N64 video footage from a gameshow demonstration - I think E3 but not for certain- but I dont know how to download it for all to see or where I originally got it.

In fact I think the site I got it from closed down now but Im sure one could google it and eventually get a free download of it.

I know that this has been discussed before but IMO the N64 version of RE0 would have been the best looking N64 game ever from what I can see in the video.

I love RE0. I have beaten it 6 times. I just can't get enough of that game.

I've seen that video and it's wild how they pretty much didn't edit the train scene that much at all. Except for adding in Billy.

I agree, that it should have been released on N64 and left it at that, then that would give them enough time to improve it for a remake.
