I have a Pelican switch box for my tv setup. PS2 is hooked to the switch box now via s-video cords. I usually hook a 2nd system up through the switch box so I don't have to use the front input jacks on my tv. I tried hooking my Dreamcast through it earlier, but I hook it up to the switch box, I get all the audio, but no picture for the Dreamcast. Any idea why this would be happening?

I'm confused. You only have your PS2 hooked up through the switch box? :hmm: What's the point of it then?

Aside from that, just eliminate the obvious problems. if those fail, get back to us. Are you sure there's a s-video out on the box and that's headed to the TV? The DC is hooked up s-video too? Is it just that one port on the box? Are you sure you've switched to the right port on the box itself?

Is your Dreamcast using an s-video cable right now? On most switchboxes, you have to be using the same outputs as you are inputs. In other words, if you have 3 things hooked up to the RCA inputs and 1 thing hooked up to the s-video input, and you have your output running s-video, you will only see the 1 thing hooked up to s-video and you won't see the other 3. The switchbox won't convert from 1 style of video to the other.

So if your ps2 is hooked up to s-video and your dreamcast is hooked up to RCA and your switchbox connects to your television through s-video, then your Dreamcast won't send video.

I have the switchbox in question and that's exactly how it operates.

Aye, the simple $10-20 switchboxes won't convert video. You need to get yourself a video distribution amplifer or an A/V receiver to do that sort of thing.

That's likely it then Flack, thanks for the assist. Now I usually do have 2 systems hooked up via the box, or sometimes 3 depending on room, but with the aforementioned switch box issue, I don't for the time being. Ordered a s-video cord for my DC last night as well.

Got my s-video cable for the DC today and hooked it up. Now can use the switch box properly and the DC's video looks so much cleaner with s-video too!
