View Full Version : Is it full moon? Where are all these freaks coming from????

First one: gamedreams26

Some German guy who wins my auction for a Mega CD game, never responds to any emails, even though I send him my IBAN and BIC, my Paypal details and my postal address. I file a NPB - no response.

Finally, I leave negative feedback and sell the game elsewhere. And lo and behold, ON CHRISTMAS DAY, he leaves me a neg stating "Never become email and I need paypal account" ... and an email complaining that it's not his fault that he didn't contact me, because he doesn't have internet at the moment!?!?!

What the hell do you bid on ebay items for if you don't have internet???

Anyways, the next charming goon is a member of another retro forum, buster_broon

He won a Virtua Fighter 32X Box set from me. After winning the auction, he apparently decides he doesn't like the postage and asks me to reduce it.

I say no - if he wanted to query the postage, the right time was before the auction ended, not after. Apart from anything else, if I am going to reduce the postage after close, i may as well re-auction the item to see if anyone else was willing to bid more ... however, I agree that if I am able to post the item via Special Delivery for the £15 stated postage cost, I will send it via that instead of Standard Parcels. At the post office, am told that it will cost £19.50 to send Special delivery so I send it via Standard Parcels - as stated in the auction details.

Now, TWO MONTHS later, after receiving positive feedback from me, he leaves me a neutral stating :

"shipping was extortionate" - a lie
"overcharged by 75%" - also a lie
"was told it was for bus fare" - another lie

Three separate and distinct lies in one piece of feedback. Must be some kind of record. Nice to see that everyone is so full of Christmas cheer. I won't be missing ebay at all.

Thats crazy. You will always meet a noob on Ebay one day or another.
Did you send him a mail directly or did you contact him through ebay, or both?
Happend to me that I sent many mails to a seller, and when I finaly get respond he/she says he/she have sent me several of mails. I never seen anything atleast.

It's amazing that when I was only buying on Ebay I argued that sellers should immediately leave feedback for buyers if they paid right away because they ahd done their part.

Now that I'm selling and buying, I've totally changed my stance and refuse to leave feedback before it's been left for me.

Maybe it's wrong to withhold feedback, but you wouldn't have gotten that neutral had you done that.

Man I can't stand those idiots trying to ruin my feedback. I have kept alot of grumpy assholes and unreasonable people happy to keep my 100% rating.

Yeah, the most annoying thing about the guy who whinged about the postage was that he won the item - a special issue 32X unit set, that i have not seen another one of anywhere, ever - for less than the going rate for a standard boxed 32X unit.

Anyway. I left a follow up on the feedback he left me - and on the feedback that I left him. There ought to be some way of reporting asshats like this to eBay and getting them censured.

To leave feedback like that on the because you suddenly decide you don't like the terms that you've already agreed to by placing your bid should be penalised. After all, if he was really that upset about the postage, all he needed to do was say he didn't actually want it, and I would have sold it to the next bidder.

But no, he pays up and gets his item, and then whinges some more about it.

You know what's worse. People who leave no feedback whatsoever. I'm suppose to have like 36 feedbacks by now. But, I only have 25. Agh.

Send them a mail and ask for them to leave feedback. I used to do this before something.

I wish so too, but unfortuneatly ebay wont do anything. I had a simular situation earlier when a seller sold me a pirated GBA game and refused to give me a refund even after I gave numerous of proof that it was a pirate. Left a negative feedback and she gave me a negative too saying I was a con artist and a liar @_@

Contacted Ebay about it because writing stuff like this that is obviously a lie, I thought they would remove it.
They gave me a url and here is a copy/paste from something thats written:

The feedback comment contains profane, vulgar, obscene, or racist language or adult material. Inflammatory language, such as "fraud, liar, cheater, scam artist, con man" etc, while discouraged, will not be removed.

I think its sad that they wont remove feedback like this, but I guess it will take too much time to investigate all feedbacks that contain stuff like this :(

Things just get better ... this email just in from buster_broon:

"might involve paypal and ebay now stating that you make money from postage - which you did

since you think i'm a liar might try and prove my innocence and as for being a coward, you left feedback right away so it didnt matter when i left it and it was going to be a negative but i thought that was too strong since i got the item - so i did you a favour in the end, thats why it took a while for me to leave it

I left a reply to the lies in his feedback for me - and a follow up to my feedback for him saying he was a coward for waiting two months to leave his feedback.

As you can see, he claims it was because he was thinking of giving me a negative, and he's "done me a favour". Curious then how he left his feedback at just the point at which my feedback for him had dropped off the front page of his feedback history, so that no-one will see my follow up

Just a coincedence, of course. I recommend adding this joker to your blocked bidder list, as I have already done.

I hope he does waste his time complaining to eBay and Paypal - I can't see that they're going to be overly interested in someone complaining about being charged the postage stated in the auction.

For added comedy value, he also accuses me of telling him the extra cost was to cover my bus fares.

Checking back in my emails, I see that he suggested that I was using the postage charge to cover bus fares, and that I replied specifically stating that I take parcels to the post office on the bike!

I don't know whether he has just convinced himself that I told him I spent his postage money on bus fares, or if he is just lying through his teeth in an attempt to save face.

I am charitably assuming the former, since he also seems to have convinced himself that complaining to Paypal will have some effect despite the fact that checking my records tells me he paid by bank transfer.

Yeah, I've gotten two nearly back-to-back undeserved negatives this year, which brought my 100% rating to a 98.6% or something (I only have 142 total). The poopiest part is that I am pretty vigilant about not buying from sellers with less than 99% feedback, so by my own logic, I wouldn't buy from myself now. Ugh.

People have really been jerks after christmas this year

I've gotten emails with people making all kinds of demands. One says they want me to send them another copy of the game and they will pay the shipping AFTER they receive it, and they "will even return the other one if I want" Sure you will. They didn't even read my return policy, which states you must return the game for a refund, no exchanges. I've gotten screwed trying to be nice to people to keep my feedback pristine, it still didnt work, its not gonna happen anymore

One is blaming me because a game won't work, when they are using a Generation NEX and is says right on their site that Castlevania 3 won't work on it

and 2 others are just complaining about slow shipping, like I can control the friggin postal service

Yes, but then the seller/buyer doesn't get the feedback they deserve...

I think if you're on ebay and you arn't doing business right, you deserve negative feedback. It's stupid not to leave negative feedback at all.

OK, now this is really taking the piss... is it full moon, or what? ALL the freaks seem to be coming out of the woodwork to give me hassle now ...

Today I got this:

I DON'T RECEIVED YOUR GAMES
HOW IS THE PROBLEM?
PLEASE REPLY OR I VOTE NEGATIVE TO YOU AND WRITE TO EBAY

... for an item that ended, was paid for and was posted three months ago!!! Unreal!! And he expects me to try to chase up a problem now???

So, I have to tell him I posted them and he is going to give me five negs for these crappy £1 games that he couldn't even be bothered to tell me for 3 months that he hadn't received.

What the hell did I do to deserve all this shit??

It is a no-win situation. I have left negative feedback three times total, and two of those well deserved negatives threw a tantrum and left me negative feedback. Bastards.

You never should have negged him- that just invites retaliation & hurts you. Like shooting yourself in the foot.

Do the Non-Paying Dispute & leave it at that 'cause he'll get banned eventually.

I have been having problems too,

One guy, I sent him an Atari 800 XL, when it arrived (by courier) he emailed me to tell me that the power supply was broken.

The 800XL still worked, so I said well thats not satisfactory I will claim for it.

I went that day to my local Staples Office Superstore (where I send heavy parcels) and put in a claim, basically to cut a long story short, this guy emailed me every 2-3 days, at least twice a week. I kept phoning/visiting Staples at LEAST twice a week.

Basically 2 months later I still didnt have the claimed money back, and he was wanting to leave me a negative! I rang him and explained how Id been chasing this up every damn week, and he acted like he didnt believe me.. I said you can ring the store, heres their number.

Later I found he was posting on a forum saying "when is it I can leave negative up till??" anyway, I had to give him the money back then.. thing is.. I STILL dont have the money myself, plus he has a working Atari 800XL. Joys of ebay!

Another guy in Netherlands won a £4 PSX game from me, I asked him would he pay IBAN in Euros or GBP, and he said GBP. I forgot to reply to the message, so 2 weeks after he bought it, I got a neutral feedback! WTF! A neutral! I mean.. what did he lose? He didnt pay, its not like I didnt send an item. Anyway I managed to get it retracted and hes paying now.

Another person, just left me a neutral yesterday, apparently good item but slow delivery! Give me a break! they bought it just before Christmas.. I posted it promptly.. do I control Royal Mail? Nope. It was delayed due to the christmas post and they think that warrants a neutral.

Another guy, bought a cable from me, and theres a problem with it, so I said well send it back and I'll send you one that will work, and he said "Is there any point me returning it for the nominal value" - WTF?

He wanted to keep the faulty cable AND have a new one sent to him?

Dont even get me started on the people winning about 30 99p auctions, wanting the "lowest postage possible" and then taking 2 weeks to pay!!!

I definitly agree that the way to keep good feedback is by not leaving negatives first.. but I mean, some devious beggars out there will wait until the LAST day I mean LAST day you can leave a feedback, just to get their "revenge" etc.. so I just say, screw it, if someone messes me about, doesnt pay etc, just leave the feedback and see what happens! LOL

You should have refunded money immediately 'cause insurance is not for the Buyer. It's for the Seller. You're lucky he didn't file "not as advertised" with paypal- you'd lose & be forced to refund.

Why is Staples taking 3 months to return your insurance money???

Another person, just left me a neutral yesterday, apparently good item but slow delivery! Give me a break! they bought it just before Christmas.. I posted it promptly.. do I control Royal Mail? Nope.
Leave a Neg. "Bought 12/20. Shipped 12/20. I shipped fast but this Buyer is IMPATIENT. Be wary."
Followup-: "If you're in a hurry why'd you buy 2-week delivery? Buy 2-day next time."

he said "Is there any point me returning it for the nominal value" - WTF? He wanted to keep the faulty cable AND have a new one sent to him?
My response would be "If you don't return it, I will assume the cable is 100% okay & you're yet another internet scammer--- trying to get something for free. Now here's $1.00. Please return it so I can verify its condition & then issue a refund."

I leave negatives immediately. Positive feedback after 60 days. Long enough to make sure I won't be scammed by bouncing checks or chargebacks.

And send an email asking the buyer to return the positive.

Ok, re: the most recent crazy -

I replied to him with the following:

"These games were posted THREE MONTHS AGO! Why wait this long before telling me there is a problem?? Since you paid
for standard, uninsured airmail there is not much that I can do, as if you have not received them they must have been lost in the post."

He has responded:

"SINCE CLARIFY IT YOU WITH POST OFFICE OR I WILL VOTE FOR YOU NEGATIVELY" (!?)

So, what should I do? I do not feel at all inclined to go chasing up an uninsured package after three months, whose contents are worth about £5, if that. Two weeks later, yes. Four weeks later, yes. Even six weeks later. But three months? Am I being unreasonable to refuse to deal with that?

Why is Staples taking 3 months to return your insurance money???

Because Staples is not UPS. Staples just has UPS ship centers in them which provides a convienant place for a customer to ship their packages from. All claims still need to go through UPS although sometimes Staples can try help the customer out in the process.

I work for Staples.

Honestly I don't think there's anything you CAN do about it. You didn't get tracking because the buyer didn't pay for it so the package can't be tracked. If its lost its lost. If its been over three months perhaps he won't know how to leave the negative feedback since it won't show if his feedback section any more.

What's the cutoff point for filing a PayPal charge back?

Well I thought it would be difficult to get a refund with Staples/DHL, so I wanted to get the money back myself before I refunded him!

Why is Staples taking 3 months to return your insurance money???

I have no idea, they are just incompetent there, apparently its the head office, they have to make the claim etc, I keep chasing it up, I'll be chasing it up again today..

Yeah, he's going to return it now, I thought it was a bit fishy that he didn't want to, but ah well, problem sorted hopefully.

With the Staples thing, Staples has an account with DHL, (not UPS), and because they have a parcel centre in nearly every Staples Office Superstore, they get a VERY good rate sending packages, so of course they pass some of this saving onto their customers, DHL come each day and pick up any parcels, so I am claiming with Staples, and Staples are claiming with DHL, its all rather complicated, but there's no way on earth it should take this long...

I blame DHL, and partially Staples HQ.
