that is really insane, it's very strange
I wonder how accurate those figures are.

Probably as accurate as every other "I've got a friend who works in ..." rumor you hear on the internet.

Just another article trying to get hits about the true cost of the X-bawx360. Why should you care anyways? If they have a stratagy to make money off losing it then do your thing and we'll see. I'm sure they'll pull a trick like the printing companies: Sell cheep printers with expensive ink cartridges except for MS the situation is game sales. Remember, if people buy a system they're more than likely going to buy a game.

well technicly most companies lose some money on new systems. its the games that are the money maker, and the system is the tool for them to make their money.

True or not, this is another reason to kill the people who are bashing 360s. As I said - that's just hurting the economy.

If they would have sold the first 100,000 units directly on ebay and they would have made money instead of losing it.

Well those may not be exact figures but I know for a fact that all of the hardware in an xbox360 does not cost 300 dollars.

I though it was standard practice with any system to loose money with the console in the beginning.
Don't all new systems cost more to make then they retail for? I was always under the assumption that this was the case, and in return the companies make the money back on the software.
I also though that retailers pay more than the MSRP, and also make their money in game sales.

there is no freaking way that MS is losing that much per console. No way they are losing more than $180 per console.

Sure you do. That's why you have your own article, and get paid to make these analyses of the game market.
Oh, wait...that's not true.
