View Full Version : Shadow Heart PS2 Original vs. Promo???

I have searched the forum and could not find anything (although I seem to remember reading about it a while back...) anyway,

The first Shadow Hearts for PS2 seems to have some copies floating around that are marked "promo not for resale" on the front of the case in small letters. Other than a different upc code and lack of magazine review quotes on the back, the outside artwork is almost the same to the original USA retail release. I only have a new copy so I am unsure if the actual disc is marked promo or not

Now, my question is, anyone have an idea as to which will be more desired in factory sealed condition by collectors? Anyone own an opened copy of the promo version?

TIA

Hmm...if it's rarer, maybe the promo version...as long as it's the full game, that is.

I have the promo version and theres no marking on the disc that say not for resale. I dont have an original so I don't know the difference between the 2. When I get home tomarrow I'll post a pic of it.

it is the full version of the game on the promo edition, anyway, thanks for the responses, I think the promo maybe slightly rarer as well, but the difference probably is negligible as it isn't a proto or otherwise "special" version.

It would be interesting to know the story behind these promo releases as reviewer copies are not usually packaged in retail cases nor was this game ever a pack-in in anything that would indicate it being promo/not for resale. Any industry insiders know what it may be from?

The NFR copies came from a reservation promotion that Midway did for Shadow Hearts Covenant. If you reserved that title you received a free copy of Shadow Hearts... when you picked up and paid for the other title. That's how I got mine from GameStop.
