View Full Version : Haven't Got a 360 Yet? Head to Wal Mart Now!

Based on info gathered from deal sites throughout the net like Slickdeals, it seems that the majority of Wal Mart stores throughout the country will be selling Xbox 360 consoles tonight at midnight.

If you didn't get one on launch day, and if you haven't been able to track one down since, the buggers are still hard to find, you can go to Wal Mart and try to pick one up tonight at midnight, 12:00 a.m. Most Wal Marts will be selling at least 12 units tonight.

Of course, that means you'll probably miss the New Year's countdown with your family. Of course, counting down to the minute when you can purchase that new Xbox 360 will be enough for most gamers.

What are you waiting for? Get out of here and go! Of course, you can wait a few more weeks, when it is expected Microsoft will finally get to shipping many more systems. If you already have a 360, continue on, there's nothing to see here.

If it wasn't for the Xmas shopping and all the bills I have at this time of the month, I would consider picking one up if this is true.

And then probably sell it since I have no desire to own one right now and can use the money :D

Once the urge to get it before Xmas is over, the demand will drop dramatically, just look at bid prices on eBay, which reflect how bad people want it now.

What I'M waiting for is the rush of units that will soon be traded in by those who bought it on a whim due to either A) "can't afford to buy any software for it" or the ever-popular B) "there aren't any good games out".

I'm actually amazed that you can't walk into a store and buy one. I would have thought that Microsoft would have saturated the market with 360s this holiday season. They sure fooled me.

One of the guys I work with was camped out at Layaway all day yesterday, in fact he started his vigil at 1AM Saturday. I worked my regular 11 to 8 shift and he was alone all day in that line. I told him about halfway through my shift "You wasted an entire day because you're probably going to be the only one in line."

I think between the wipeout of all the Cmas spending, the fact that walmart did a sorry job of advertising this and walmart being their usual dicks on a power trip of making ppl wait, that's what kept him in line alone.

Honestly I think it's stupid to make ppl wait at this point. Launch day, yes I can understand that. Management however would use the excuse that it's part of a sale that starts the 1st, but truth be told:
1) It doesn't have a special discount price and
2) There have been many times a customer has asked for something in a sales paper early and we've been told by management to dig it out of the back an let them have it just so the store could make a buck.

Xmas 05, I'm not kidding, some of the sellers on eBay have so much common sense and tried to buy up all XB 360 units at Walmart, I just brought out one link here for amusement

You can't even get $500 for it now, if you take out the extortionate fees from Paypal/eBay, there's pretty much pointless to sell on eBay (assuming the bidders pay), time for those to learn a lesson and bring them back to stores for customers who really want it.

I just picked mine up at our local Walmart. I didn't even have to wait in line. Just walked right in, told the lady behind the desk what I wanted, and walked out in 10 minutes tops.

Fucking A.

So, how does this one compare to launch units? How hot does it get?

And, if you store it vertically, does it scratch disks? (Don't use a 360 game to test this)

You know, not all launch units have that problem. :hmm:

That's not really the point.

The point is is it still an issue?

I do not mean to rain on parades, But i'd like to know this before i go out to buy one.

I think the only way it'll scratch discs is if you move it from the horizontal to the vertical position while the system is on and a game is playing. My friend did this with my 360, and my NBA Live disc got a deep circular scratch all the way around the disc. Still plays fine though.

Well, seeing as it was a birthday present my parents bought me, I have yet to try it out. I will be sure and let you know on the 12th though. ;)

I really don't think it will be that much of a problem. Not all of the first wave systems had all of those problems. This is like, what, the second or third wave?

I have a 360, got one on launch day, and I constantly move my 360 throughout my house. There is basically 3 seperate places in my house that I play my 360 system. Every time that I'm going to move my system, I turn it on and eject any disk out, before moving it.

So I haven't had any problems with scratched disks. I suggest that other 360 owners do the same thing. If you are going to be moving the unit around, might as well eject the disk. I have mine standing up vertically in two of the spots that I play it at, and I have it laying down horizontally in one of the spots that I play it at. It just makes sense to remove the disk before moving the thing around. Any system that you stand up vertically sometimes, and have horizontally other times, it's probably a good idea to eject the disk before you move it around.

Do I really have to be at walmart around midnight just to pick one up still? Are there still that popular... so it's either be there at walmarkt when they get a shipment exactly on time or I don't get one? wow, theese things sell like candy!

I'd do the same thing too, that and finding a box big enough for it would me intresting.
