I have to confess....

I've never played Super Mario Bros 3. I've also never played the first 2 Doom's. Same with Grand Theft Auto 3.

I think I just got sick of the SMB series after playing 1 and 2 to death. Didn't play much of Super Mario World when I got my SNES, either. I love Doom 3, never know why I never played the first 2. Probably because I didn't get my first PC until '98. My parents forbid games on theirs. Didn't think the console ports would be any good. GTA3.... Haven't a clue. I've played all the other ones. And I even have the Xbox GTA double pack! But I bought it for Vice City. Okay, you can laugh it up now :D

So is there a major game you have just never played? I'm sure I've got a ton more, but I just can't think of any at the moment. I'm sure all of us have at least 1...

Haven't played Super Metroid, Earthbound, Dracula X, Suikoden II, Myst, and probably a bunch others. I plan on playing all the major games someday, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I've never played Metal Gear Solid. Never felt a need to, to be perfectly honest.

Lessee... Gunstar Heroes, Disgaea (or however it's spelled; I'm friends with a lot of strategy/RPG nuts), any Duke Nukum title (except the Game.com entry, but that one doesn't really count anyway. lol), Diablo and I'm sure there are others.

I could name one for almost every system I own, but perhaps the most widespread game I've never played is probably Sonic 2. Amazingly enough I usually enjoy Sonic games. I loved the original, Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic CD, etc... just never played 2. No real good reason for it, I have a copy in a plastic bin approximately 10 feet away from where I'm sitting.

For me it's mainly first-person shooters... just never really cared for them so much. So... Quake and its sequels, Unreal Tournament and sequels, Halo 1 (I did play some Halo 2).

Also add in Diablo 1 and 2... um... pretty much anything that's big on Xbox save for Halo 2. And... a lot of the popular Saturn / DC games like Panzer Dragoon or Shenmue.

I'm sure there's a lot of others but that's all I can think of right now.

If we're talking about movies, though, I've purposely avoided seeing any of the Lord of the Rings movies. Not because I dislike Tolkien, but because they came out while I was in college with a lot of nerds who regarded it like the second coming. It got annoying, so I avoided them out of spite.

RPGs other than Earthbound, Mario RPG, Paper Mario, FF: MQ, and maybe one more I'm forgetting at the moment.

Never played Metal gear solid 1 2 or 3... halo 2, diablo 1, 2

Haven't played Katamari Damacy YET, but I will soon enough

Played metroid and super metroid... for about 5 min each.

never played any warcraft games, even though I own #2

RE0, RE3, never played either

Gran Turismo... played #4 for about 2 minutes, and got fed up with the controls. Never played the other 3

Never played a NFS game, except most wanted

Soul Calibur, DOA, Tekken.... never played any of them

That's all I can come up with for now...

RPG's in general. There are a few I like, but they are far between, and are usually action RPG's or dungeon crawlers.

It would probably be easier for me to name all the major console releases I have played than those I have not. I was pretty much strictly PC before this gen, and hadn't owned a console since Intellivision. I played a few games with my brother, but mainly I ignored every console. I probably still would if PC rpgs still existed.

I'm sure there's tons, but I'll try to think of a few:

ET (2600), All though not that BIG, I'm sure most people have at least tried this game a few times. Oh, same with Combat, I've never played that either.

NES - Legend of Zelda. Not yet at least. I'm not sure why.

SNES - Earthbound, and Chrono Trigger.

N64 - Paper Mario, all of the Mario Party's, Perfect Dark

Thats all I can think of. Funny though, as I do actually own most of the games that I listed.

Major series I havent played are numerous. In the realm of Mario I havent played Mario 64 or Sunshine. The only Zelda I have ever played is Zelda 1. I havent played any Metroids. I have only played Sonic 1 and 2. There are more but it would take all day to go through. I could look at it as though I'm deprived or something but instead just means I have a ton of awesome games to play still and thats always good.

I've only played 3 FF games, which I've played around 10 mins. for all of them. Pretty much any hit or PS1 and pretty much anything on PS2. Haven't play that many hits on Xbox(played Halo 2 for the first time yesterday). I don't believe I've ever played a system order than NES. About anything on PC. Lots of stuff for handheld systems. Never played a Saturn or Sega Cd(or 32x). And craploads more.

I haven't played any Final Fantasy game since 7.

And even though I've had it for over 2 years, I've never played Super Mario Sunshine.

Never played Majora's mask either, even though I've had that one for years too.

*looks around*
i've never played an NES.
:embarrassed:
i've played emulators, and it's not that i don't want to play the real thing, but i've never had a chance.the only person i knew who had an NES was a complete jerk to me and never let me play, (i might have played zelda for a few seconds but thats it), and i haven't seen anyone who had one since then. i have lots of NES roms, and i love em, but for some reason i've never gotten a chance to play a real one.

(ducks a bunch of rocks)

anyways ive never played the first two quakes, or either half-life(ducks more rocks).

I've tried Sonic, other than that, same as Rogmeister.

For Final Fantasy, the only one I've played was Mystic Quest. Not terrible, not at all. I've put off the other games in the series...one of these days I'll feel the need to play it.

Mega Man...never been terribly interested in playing any. Someday.

Big games never played:

World of Warcraft - on principle
Half-Life 2 - haven't got around to it
F.E.A.R. - same deal

All 3 got 'Game of the Year' and it seems odd that I haven't tried any of them (although, I doubt I will even touch WoW).

Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 (or whatevr the last ones are)

Never played:

N64 Zeldas
Gamecube Zelda
Final Fantasy X-2
Earthbound
Myst
Halo 1 + 2
Diablo 1 + 2
Chrono Trigger
Paper Mario
Any Intellivision game

There are plenty more. Depends on your definition of a "major" game.

I find it pretty shocking to see people who have never played a NES or a SNES. But I guess if you haven't come across one yet and you don't know anyone who has one then you are kind of screwed. Also, whoever said they haven't played Super Metroid, PLAY IT! So good....

Final Fantasy 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12 (or whatever the last ones are)
Ninja Gaiden series
Prince of Persia series

All I can think of right now :embarrassed:
All those, except I've got and played Resident Evil 4. I've got MGS3 but I haven't got round to playing it yet. That's a bad habit I've got, buying games then not playing them.

I've got Metroid Prime 1 and 2, but I haven't played them.

I refuse to play Halo just because of the attitude of the fanbase. "OMG! H4L0 is liek, t3h bestest super duper game evar!" It also just doesn't seem like a style I like.

The only RPGs I've played are Zelda OoT and LTTP, and that was only briefly. RPGs just don't interest me.

MMORPGs seem like the annoying kind of geeky. Whenever I read MMORPG I hear morporg in my head.

I've never played an NES.

No resident evils (but i did play through the evil dead game that was similar), and no metal gears. no final fantasy other than 7 (which barely has enough good elements to cancel out the shitty ones) and like 5 minutes of 1 and 3/6. i also own about 5 psx games and two of them have gone missing.

Mater of fact I have never played any major PC games. Actually lets say this, I have never played a PC game period.

I have also never played any FPS game with the exception of the Halo's and the original Doom, Wolfenstien 3D, and Goldeneye.

Oh yeah I have never played any of the major 3D platformers on the PS2 such as Jack and Dexter, Rachet and Clank, etc.

Same with World of Warcraft. I would actually love to play that game, but I don't know if my labtop can handle it. It can handle Diablo II which I play a lot, but I don't know if it can handle WoW.

Haven't played the Katamari games. Wish I have.

Never played God of War...my brother got a demo of it from somewhere, yet I still haven't played it.

There's a ton of supposedly great games I've never played.

Lets see...

I have never played Metal Gear Solid, even though I have played and beaten MGS2. In fact I bought a used copy once and have still never played it.

Earthbound.. nope.. I know nothing about it. I hear it is good.

Suikoden 1 and 2 - nope. I have played 3 though. Fun game.

Halo 2 - I have Halo 1 but I still have not beaten it. I got to a part where I was swarmed by all these little jumping things and put it down. I should finish this game sometime.

Every single RPG, SOCOM, the other xbox games that are popular (thats right you what game i was referring to), Battlefront, Quake 1/2(well I played 2 like for 3 minutes), o yeah and WOW.

Pretty much everything other major game (leaning on the newer generations) I've atleast tried.

I tend to really try to play a lot of the games that are "big," but even in doing so I have some truly big titles that are notably absent from what I have played:

Shenmue - I've attempted to fire it up, but I've never sat down to start it. I own five copies of it in my Dreamcast collection, and haven't played any. Not to mention the fact that I own Shenmue II twice for the Dreamcast and once for the Xbox, and I haven't played it either.

Any Resident Evil game - I played REmake for about three minutes on my GameCube and couldn't figure out the control scheme, so I gave up and haven't yet gone back. I own RE1 on the PS1 and GCN, RE0 on the GCN, and all of the RE's on the Dreamcast. And now RE4.

Madden series - with the exception of the DS game, as far as I know I have never played a game in the Madden series. My consoles of choice were the Jaguar and then the Dreamcast, so I didn't have that selection. When I got my Xbox, I didn't want to pay $40+ for a football game, so the only one I've ever bought was NFL 2K5. And since I actually follow sports, I do want updated rosters. Just not for that cost.

Zelda series - I loved the first one, hated the second and loved the first GameBoy one. Since then, I haven't touched the series. I did get Wind Waker with the bonus discs but never tried them.

Final Fantasy series - I at one point started trying to get all of these, and got the whole series for the Playstation... but I sold all of them before playing any of them beyond about 10 minutes of the first game. I did get Final Fantasy I & II for the GBA recently and I do plan on playing that, perhaps even starting tomorrow as I'm at a complete dead end in Golden Sun now.

^^ what he said, except take out RE, and I did have a fondness for Madden 98 on Saturn.

Believe it or not I never played Halo or Halo 2.

And I didn't read this topic but let me know if someone wrote down in any form or fashion "Bomberman" or "Doom" or "Street Fighter"... coz that person needs a emergency crash course! Then again, so could I :P

Ha if you saw this PC gaming rom rig I operate on, you'd think I've gone mad or something. LOL

Of course this in turn has influencd my game buying decisions without roms I wouldn't know which game I'd like, like how good Strider for Genesis was, or GnG for Genesis, or even R-Type 3 for SNES. Plus I was able to finally get a chance to play Gradius 3 SNES (arcade one as well, influenced me to buy Gradius 3/4 for PS 2, as well as Strider Pack PSX, and Super Ghouls N Ghosts GBA) after many years of not having the game (traded it in years ago for A Link to the Past, stupid decision on my part as I'll have to re-purchase it in the future).

So yes romming is bad, but it's also a very influential decision in purchases (just be sure it's a dead system or something, as it would be a waste of money to blindly buy an old game on impulse), especially for me.

I've never played a FPS game I liked much. I never played a football game sense the 2600. I havent played a basketball game sense NBA Jam. I havent played any of the GTA3 games and beyond. I havent played Gran Truesmo (spelling?) sense the second one. I havent played Bebe's kids on the SNES (and I hear this is a good thing). I havent played an MMORPG sense Ultima Online (PSO realy doesnt count as only 4 players could be in a real game at any time, unless they uped it sense v1.0 on the DC). I havent played a DBZ game sense the original release on the PS1.

Oh another major type of game I have never played, any MMMMOORPG. However, I have played PSO ver.1 for the DC but only the offline mode.

Well, there are lots of games and series that i haven't played. and there are consoles, too!

Games And Game Series:

Bomberman (Only played the NES version on a pirated, junky Power Player)
Doom (Only played on PSP by homebrew and emulators)
Final Fantasy Series
Halo (Not yet! I have it on PC but i need a new video chip)
Jak And Daxter
Metal gear Solid
Resident Evil
Shenmue
Sly Cooper Series (Although that is going to change soon)
Street Fighter Series

System(s)

Channel F (I hear it's rather bad, but it was the console to introduce cartridge games)
Microvision (It was the first handheld system)
Neo Geo.. AES and MVS. Well, they didn't sell much, but they are something any collector here would want.
The Original Odyssey (Oh, the humiliation for me of not playing it!)

Steven is going to be directing me onto a runaway truck ramp.

LOL

Well, of the 3 I wrote (Bomberman, Street Fighter, and Doom, and I think RE too), you qualified for all three. It's all good. Although I do suggest you look into trying each series, at least one game outta the pack.

However, if you can only do one of the series, do Bomberman. I dunno about anyone else but I consider SF, Doom and RE series the kind of stuff where "you kinda had to be there and play it when it happened" kind of deal, otherwise you can't really appreciate it like how it should be, when technology was stretched at that time (1991 for SF, 1993 for Doom, 1996 for RE).

Bomberman is the one series of those four to be IMO, timeless in the sense that you could pick up a copy TODAY for the FIRST time ever and say "hey, wow, I really enjoy this" and still appreciate it just as much as someone who played it 4-players with his friends in 1994 on a-many Saturday nights in front of a TV and Super Nintendo.

If anyone disagrees or agrees, please say so. I'm curious if I'm the only one who feels this way or not.

I'm not saying RE, SF and Doom series AREN'T timeless themselves, oh no, it's just the level of appreciation is different if you were play them today for the 1st time vs. when it happened, so to speak. Bomberman, you can play it for the 1st time any time and still have that full sense of appreciation.

Bomberman (Only played the NES version on a pirated, junky Power Player)
Doom (Only played on PSP by homebrew and emulators)
Resident Evil
Street Fighter Series

Steven is going to be directing me onto a runaway truck ramp.

LOL

Well, of the 3 I wrote (Bomberman, Street Fighter, and Doom, and I think RE too), you qualified for all three. It's all good. Although I do suggest you look into trying each series, at least one game outta the pack.

I can try one tonight. I own one of the Street Fighter games, but never played it..

So, one off the list, soon.

I'll be looking for Bomberman and Doom. But if it's for the 32x, Doom and death to the 32x!

I have never played any of those CD-I Phillips Mario or Zelda games. I guess I should be thankful.

I have yet to play Half life 2. I am currently trying to pawn everything I own in order to buy the PC version along with a computer that can actually handle it.

If any of you need a wife who has two degrees and is good with cleaning the house, drop me a line. I also have two cats and a son. LOL
