Add this to the laundry list of troubles. I'm joining the officially not getting one camp. Jeez.

Well, it seems that the Llama's linked article figured it out; adding some pads resolves the issue.

Yeah, but should consumers have to alter merchandise, just to insure proper functioning?

Considering cost of the xbox 360 problems like this really should not exist. And considering the ease of discovery of the problem and correction of it, there is really no excuse for this problem to exist at all.

I like how a "known issue" always equates to "Everyone has this problem."

You should know better.

Im going to agree with hezeuschrist here...ive had not 1 problem with my 360. I think there are some machines with problems... but its the same with every launch...and now with the interweb everyone and thier mom knows about every little problem a new system has.

In all seriousness....

What MORON would take a console (or anything for that matter) that had something spinning inside it at high speed and try to move it? Is turning the thing off beforehand too hard?

Design fault, not a chance. You wouldn't do this with your PC, why would you treat your new minty 360 any differently?

The only scratched discs I have seen are from people who had their discs in their system, playing, and then they switched from the horizontal to the vertical position. We get those people all the time in at Gamestop.

Seriously, why would you do that?

Who said everyone has this problem and who is this directed to?

I havent had one problem with my xbox360 that i got on launch. Never had a dead pixel or a spitting UMD at PSP launch.
And never had dead pixels on my DS at launch.

Invest in an extended warranty on the purchase of a system at launch and you will have no worries and none if anything goes bad past the 90 day manafacturers.

Also no one speaks about how good MS' customer service has been with the faulty XBOX360's.

Aside from having all of my game saves erased once from my HDD, I havent had anymore problems. I will be keeping my 360 horizontal at all times to avoid disc scratching.

Isnt this the same thing that came up with the PS2 at launch?

Seriously.....

Just leave the freaking unit horizontal.

Yeah I hate how people always magnify things like "DONT SHAKE YOUR XBOX 360 AROUND WHILE PLAYING IT!"

This happens to almost any cd-based unit.
Go ahead get your cd player put in an empty disc and shake it *unless its skip proof lol* you can hear it scratch like crazy.

If you have a dumbass friend who wants to see how the ring of light changes orientation when its vertical.

So now my Live 06 disc has a nice, deep circular scratch running around it.

This may be a stupid question since I've never, had a system you can set vertical. Anyway, you're not supposed to set the system vertical? What does it do that sitting in horizonal doesn't? I've saw them advertised vertical so I always thought you could set them vertical. Also, this means you won't be able to set the Revolution vertical?

Yep. Notice the design change from the PS2 to the PSTwo.

yeah leaving it vertical can mess it up over time iirc
