I have got, along with a bunch of other stuff, Shining Force 3 Scenarios 1, 2 and 3 for the Saturn. Is it actually worthwhile going to the effort of finding walkthroughs and playing these through, with the inevitable hassle of navigating loads of Japanese menus, or should I just sell them off? Give me some good reasons either way!

at the moment I am leaning towards the "sell them off" option . . . on the grounds that there are plenty of decent RPGs in English I could buy with the money. And using a walkthrough just seems a bit pointless. Anyone feel like convincing me otherwise?

Honestly, it's a real hassle to use FAQs and walkthrus to play through a heavy jap game like SFIII parts 2 and 3. I still want to try it myself cause I have part 1 in English, but for most people, it's not worth the hassle. What are you thinking of selling em for? Or perhaps trading?

I'm doing it right now. If you're a true Shining Force fan it's worth the hassle.

I wonder if Sega will ever re-release it for the Gamecube or PS2?

If anything, keep them for the value as well.

I'm still waiting for SF 3 Senario 2-3 to be translated so I can patch and re-burn the images I have..

... i got it all worked out, sometimes, i'm a little bit freaked out..." sorry, talking heads reference there- ANYWAY, a little psychology session is in order here (take tounge, plant firmly in cheek- do NOT bite down hard):

1- a GOOD walkthrough will HELP you PLAY the game. it should have enough story points in it so that you can understand what's happening. it's free, and takes seconds to download.

2- wait a minute. have you played either of the 2 english shining force games on the genesis, or the u.s. saturn SF III? one of the innovations the SF series brought to the strategy game table (actually, shining in the darkness introduced this) was... A SIMPLIFIED MENU SYSTEM. the majority of the text in the import version is in the storyline and npc dialogue. there's only that little set of icons to "read", and they're pretty clear. equipping stuff- look at the numbers. if they go up, it's a good weapon. down- sell it! of course, cursed items are a problem, but if you have a walkthrough, you'll KNOW what to avoid!

3- selling the games- well, you'll get a decent amount for part II, and a reasonable sum for part III, but part one goes for peanuts on the dollar these days... :D
