Hi, I'm a long time reader, but I've never posted until now. I was at the local mom and pop game store, and I noticed a gold NES cart that looked different than the Zelda carts. I picked it up and it was this game, Big Nose Freaks Out. I don't really seriously collect games, but I made a mental note to check out the guide online to see if it was rare/worth anything. I found that the guide does say it's rare, a 7, but the price next to it is only $13, which I thought seemed low if the game is supposedly rare. I was curious so I checked to see what a game of 8 level rarity was worth, and I found the panesian games, which were labelled at ~$300. That's a pretty large gap between 7 and 8. Obviously I'm not a serious collector, but I was wondering if someone could explain that to me, and tell me if this Big Nose Freaks Out game is actually all that rare and if it's worth spending C$10 on.
Also, is it any fun ? :)

To answer your last question, yes $10 is a good price to buy that for. Its one of the last 70 or so games I need to complete my NES collection, and I would love it if I could find it for $10 locally.
As for the price jumps.... thats hard to describe, but the guide is right on the values.
The value of a game goes up exponentially as its rarity goes up. For example, you can pretty much find any R1 - R5 game for under $5. Then, getting an R6 almost doubles in price again (probably between $5 - $10 if your lucky). Then, the R7's generally go for $10 - 20 (again, if your lucky). But then R8's and R9's jump a lot. And I guess the biggest reason is because of the fact of what people will pay for them. Most people would pay a lot of money for all of the R8's in the NES library, and way more for an R9, and then WWWAAAAYYY more for the R10.

I'll answer the fun part question. No its not that fun of a game so if you aren't planning on being a collector then I would probably pass on the title. Yes 10 bucks is a good price, but its really more of a collectors piece (low value one) then a gaming gem.
