Were there ever plans for a traditional beat em up on Saturn? Just curious.

i dunno, it would have been cool to have golden axe 3. but instead they released a crap ass VS fighter, jesus. what were they thinking? why would i play that steaming pile (which i own sadly) when i could play me some KOF 95-97 OR some marvel super heros versus street fighter. and they SO should have released streets of rage 4 on saturn(not that they ever made it or anything). BTW does anybody know if last bronx on saturn is good? just wondering!

They had Golden Axe 3 for the Mega Drive in Japan (wasn't released overseas).

I love Last Bronx. It could use a few more characters though. Definitely a keeper.
I hated that Golden Axe game. Such ass that was. It's another example of what could have been on the Saturn.

I second this man almost entirely. Except I don't think GA:TD is "ass"... it's in the 5/10 "ho hum" category for me.
But Last Bronx? A definite keeper, and cheap too, last time I checked (albeit 2002 :P )

It's ok, but it's not great, imo. A little too simplistic, especially if you've ever cut your teeth on Virtua Fighter or Fighting Vipers. I enjoy playing it from time to time and I might pick up the PS2 version just because I think it's fucking cool of Sega to release super tight ports of Model 2 games on the PS2 at budget prices.

Golden Axe: The Duel is fun on Saturn...at least in 2 player mode. I think it was an interesting turn for the series. It'd be great if they could update the gameplay for this new gen.

o yes, i actually have a rom of golden axe 3, just checked my ps2 megadrive roms catalog. so let me correct my self and say golden axe 4! and i heard also that fighting force was supposed to be bare knuckle/streets of rage 4, but thank god it wasn't, that game SUX i'd rather play GA:TD then that.
