All you need is an ethernet cable to connect them (included with premium system) and 2 copies of the game you want to play.

It's nice that this time around MS has seen fit to allow the 360 to automatically adjust so you don't need a crossover cable this time.

What do you mean exactly?
Automaticly Adjust what?

Presumably it has auto-sensing ports, which have been used in routers/hubs/switches for some time now. They just sense if they should swap the send/receive lines in order to adapt to either being connected incorrectly with a crossover cable, or being connected with a straight-through cable when a crossover would normally be necessary.

Automatically adjust the wires carrying the Send and Recieve siginals.
In a cross over cable they're reversed from what they are in a regular Ethernet cable, which is why the original Xbox needed a crossover. The 360's eithernet port will autmomatically detect wheter or not you're talking to a device that needs a crossover connection and automatically adjust how data is sent.
