I think debate topics and fanboys . Those people are insane. Games are supposed to be about having fun eh?
but instead its kind of stupid when Im talking to someone , they got the stupid of mentalility of saying sony sucks or microsoft sucks. A bunch of useless nonsense I dont care about. LOL

I think Fanboys are more a product of the anonymous internet chatroom.

I had Atari as a kid, Sega as an adolescent and Playstation as an adult. Of course, I had Intellevision/Nintendo/Xbox friends, and never once did we get into a pissing match like I've seen in chatrooms. We generally appreciated playing different games than we had ourselves and enjoyed the best of all worlds.

It's just kiddies acting tough on the Interweb.

The strangest thing about gaming to me is the equation where
Hyped game "X" is blasted by critics and the public alike, but sells well due to said hype and/or license.
Then game "X" gets an equally crappy sequel, which again is a top seller. Repeat... x_x

I've met a Microsoft fan-boy in real life. I was totally surprized, and I stopped talking to him. I said that Half Life is easily the best FPS ever, and he just started swearing and calling me names saying that there was no such thing (FPS) until Halo. Wow..... @_@

LOL maybe he will get his lights punched out by a ps2 fanboy later at a gaming convention or expo.

When I was a kid, I was a Nintendo fan, as were most of my friends. We knew a few people that were into Sega, and while we would argue about which was better, there were always smiles on our faces and we never actually resorted to personal insults. Whether this was an exception and not the rule, who knows.

These days? Well, I was in a game store a few years ago and was called a fag for expressing my OPINION that I thought Halo was overrated.

These days too many people think their opinions are fact, and get way too defensive if your favorite game/console is not also their favorite as well.

I agree about Fanboys, but debate topics? isn't that what we're all about here, debate and discussion?

Sure you get a few people ruining the debates with their inability to accept reality and their obsessions, but there's a lot of good debate too.

I do agree about fanboys which are bad but I think debates are a natural part of everything.

Agreed. I rarely use my headset but the other night I thought I'd give it a try on Bicycle Casino and even though there were only two other people at the blackjack table, the language was appalling - I thought that kinda stuff was the mainstay of FPS games.. obviously not.

I tend to only use my headset in private games with my friends and Fellow DP users.

I think I need to build up my Friends list - I have two on there at the moment but they're FPS/PGR fans so I've never played anything with them!

Cosplay

I think we have a winner here.

Honorable mention: Fifty Cent: Bulletproof

The Doom Marine, the guy from Wolf3D, and Duke Nukem all weep for the future.

I'll second that nomination of "cosplay".

And i'll also agree that overly-biased fanaticism is by far the worst.

cho aniki is godlike! i hope they release another installement soon..maybe a beat 'em up? (please!).

50 cent: BP isn't as bad as people claim it to be. i'm not partial to mr fitty, but there could have been a less believeable rapper as the protagonist. that damn camera should have been fixed prior to release though.

Wneh I read the title, I was sure in my heart-of-hearts that the answer was cosplayers. But then I was reminded of xbox live chat, and so I must declare it to be a tie.

Freaking parents getting worried that their kids are being exposed to too much violence and nonsense while playing their games.

sure fanboys and the language on live is bad but i dont consider those to be "out of gameing" -- i consider those to be "out of people" so my vote would have to go to the cosplay (some people just get WAY to into it) and the other thing i think is dumb is all the extra non game stuff thats involved in the marketing - like the shirts, bed covers, pillows, gambling cards - ETC.

Hoarding is my current pet peeve with gaming... news spreads that a title has increased resale value and the people who actually want to PLAY the game to see what the big deal is get screwed by someone just out to make a quick buck. Or if a good game gets a much-needed discount at one place, but not at others... the hoarders swoop in as well.
Is there any way to stop these bottom-feeders?

 It makes me sick.

Aside from what's already been said, the following candidates immediately come to mind:
>$1 arcade games
Garish gaming tattoos
The NP 200th issue top 200 game list
Elite Neo Geo collectors
The Walk of Game
While a lot of these things aren't ridiculous on paper... they are when you think about them. Just imagine having a 1x2 ft. mural of The Wind Waker on your back for the rest of your life. Or imagine paying $10,000+ for a single game you'll never play. Or imagine a very large man in a full-body, plush Mario costume accepting an onstage award from a nervous-looking business man in an expensive suit; they turn to the camera, and Mario can't change his ever-smiling face. "On behalf of the committee, congratulations... Mr.... Mr. Mario."
