Hmm interesting
since GTA 3 is still my favorite GTA so far I like that there will be a PS2 version of the PSP game but shouldnt it be a "greatest hits" title? or be priced around the $19.99 U.S. range since it already came out on the PSP?

I think it would really depend even though it shares the same name as the psp game is it gonna be the same game?
or will it be a different game with the same name?
I wonder
This is great news to me. I have no plans to own a PSP any time soon (if ever).
I'll be buying this game.
As far as the price goes, I expect $29-39. Having it priced at $19 would be great though.

AGREED
The only handheld Im interested in is the DS no PSP for me probably ever not that its a bad system or anything Im just not that interested in it.
I like that its a prequel to GTA3 and at least we get one more GTA on our current gen systems before the next gen arrives (for better or worse as some may argue ;) )

I have GTA for the PSP and i must admit that it is an excellent game. It is like playing GTA 3 where ever you are, which is awesome. So if you have a PSP get this game because it is AWESOME!!!
The graphics are identical to the PS2 and the load time on the PSP is faster than that of the PS2. So i would recommend getting it for the PSP.

The graphics aren't identical at all. They're crappier. And there are load times before every cut scene. Those were never in the PS2 version.
Come to think of it, you never freakin' owned it for PS2. :hmm:
Oh, and the analogue nub sucks massive dong.

I worked at a Gamestore this holiday, and over half of the customers that came in asking about the game thought it was on the PS2, not the PSP. Many just walked out when they heard that the game was on the PSP and was $50 O_O. THe game is going to sell millions, although the series is starting to look more like Tony Hawk with a new version coming out every year.

I think the sun may be setting on GTA... finally. Charging $50 for a portable game is too much.

I don't think it will be setting on GTA
but it definitly hurts it that it's 50 bucks

I personally dont think the sun will set on GTA until they've covered every major "Time Period" (is that my word?) that they can.
Personally, I think that a 60's setting in Las Vegas would be great, I recall rumors for that, but nothing more. "Sin City" I believe it was called, although problems could arise with the title now.
So because of that I say GTA is here for a while, but I think we may see a Tomb Raider Scenario develop after a while...

Why would they do this? Port a PSP game to consoles. Seems a little odd to me. Will this one have more stuff, or be a straight up port.

I'm assuming that coding for one makes it easy to port it to the other, but I have no hard facts to base that on.
I personally think it was about time that the PSP got a game worth playing. I didn't bother getting the system 'till Liberty City Stories hit the shelves and I'm loving every minute of it (I've barely touched my DS in the past two weeks).

One of my friends has a PSP and got the game and loved it. I'm sure it will be a smashing hit on the Playstation2 as well. My only problem is I didn't like GTA3 and all after that. I preferred the nice 2D sprites from the first, second, and London games. I would like to see them do something different and recreative for their next generation of the series.

I don't get the rationale behind that. People will pay 30-40 dollars for basically an n64 game, on the DS, yet spending 50 on a game, that looks alot like its ps2 counterpart on a handheld, isn't worth it. I am not saying its fan-boy-ism, but the DS, as good as it is, isn't a PSP, and doesn't produce the same calibur of graphics, yet they charge, close to the price of a good game like socom, on the PSP. How does that work? I enjoy my DS and it has its worth and its place, but I don't understand pricing of big N. The DS games should be 20 to 25 bucks, they aren't on par with most if not all of the PSP games. Sorry for the rant, I guess I just don't get it.

You have to be very careful when it comes to pricing. Make something too cheap and people will think less of the product. You have to price the brand just right.
