I have been playing with my PS2 a whole lot lately why i wait for my Xbox 360 and i would have to say i've played two of the best games ever over the pass few months.

The best game i've ever play on the PS2 at the moment would have to be Shadow of the Colossus.

Shadow of the Colossus is amazing! The gameplay is amazing. The overall concept of the game is great. Also the story of the game is superb. There are 16 Collisi that have to be defeated so that you can bring your dead love back to life.

Visually the game is stunning and the battles with the Colossus's are unforgetable.

Trust me go buy this game. It is worth every penny of the $40.

What is the best PS2 game you have played?

I bought this cool Phonics Rocket game for PS2 a few weeks ago. It is by far the best game I've ever played on any system.

I've also heard God of War is amazing but have yet to play it.

God of War is good i own it and have played through it, but at times it gets repetitive. However, it is worth playing through because it has a great story and is a good overall game with some sweet boss's.

Dragon Quest 8 so far for me.

Shadow of the collosus was one of the most overrated games I've played on the PS2. My opinion? Worth $20, fun to play, a little frustrating and fairly boring, hard as hell controls, and once the "wow that thing is HUGE" factor wears off, the game is kind of a waste. 7 out of 10. Not saying it was a BAD game, just WAYYY overhyped.

At least this one had a decent ending to it though unlike Ico.

Rez. This will possibly be unseated in March by Outrun Coast 2 Coast, assuming Sumo can make the PS2 version not look or control like shit.

"Overhyped"? So you're say what, that because this game had more commercial success than it's predecessor, Ico, that it's no longer worthy of a higher rating? Why taint your review because you didn't like the media coverage? I'm betting that the reason that the game was 'hyped up' at all was because the first game was utterly brilliant but just grew dust on the shelves because the gaming masses probably we'ren't as hardcore as you probably view yourself to be. And if living in your mother's basement writing tripe on the internet about how a game deserves a lesser rating because more than three people know about it, than I don't want to be hardcore.

But, you know what, while we're on the subject of overhyped games, take a look at Dragon Quest 8 you pedantic little fruit.

I never recall seeing multiple television ads for SotC during prime time, but you don't label DQ8 as over hyped, why the change of heart?

Is it beacuse you lack the cognitive capacity to string together a coherant, let alone grammatically correct, sentence without letting your raging bias rear it's horrifyingly misshapen head? Glue a dildo to a seat and sit on it for all I care, because you've only made a fool out of yourself with your blatantly partisan bull. Go back to your emo and your unsigned garage bands. We don't want you here.

This sorta thing is why "what's the best" style topics are so exciting! Yes, I want to argue with people who don't appreciate the same genres that I do that their opinions are invalid without recognizing that my tastes are different. :/

mean things...

Ok dude.. chill. Just because someone doesn't like a game as much as you do doesn't mean you should go off on them like that.

And for the record, I am playing through SotC right now and I am absolutely loving it.

Aren't people allowed to have their opinions without being crucified?

I enjoyed Shadow of the Colossus. It's one of the best games I've played in awhile but I understood when I was playing it that this was a game that wouldn't appeal to everyone. I liked playing Zelda: Windwaker on the Gamecube because I liked sailing and discovering all of the islands. Other people absolutely hated it and were bored to tears with the exploration. Some people don't like huge environments and the exploration in these games. They'd rather get to the action.

Anyway, my favorite PS2 game is probaby Metal Gear Solid 3 but it took a little while for me to get interested in it because there are some things in there that are a lot different from the previous 2 games. Namely the radar and the way you heal yourself.

What is really sad is this thread was actually moving along nicely until the OP decided to shit it up once he got offended that someone didn't like his favorite game.

The poster didn't even slam it very hard. He just said he thought it was overhyped and gave it a 7/10.

Guitar Hero > All.

Side note. I only collect PS2 games that are exclusive to that system. I am more of a Xbox/Cube guy, but the PS2 has some solid US exclusives

God of War
Ape Escape 2
Rygar
Rez (Can't get it for US DC folks unless you mod/import)
Maximo
GUITAR HERO
Gradius III/IV
Gradius V
F.D. Fighter Fighter

The list goes on and on.

But, Ultimately Guitar Hero is the best game out exclusively for PS2.

IMHO.

Agreed. And this thread is gonna go downhill nicely. So the threadstarter killed it as well. Ironic.
