It was very very cheap to complete since they aren't worth too much. Two of them I paid $5 for, One I paid $10 for, a couple I paid as much as $2 for, I got many of them in bundle purchases and trades for free for extra stuff that I had, and I got over 90 for around $0.13 a piece. Besides that, I have an ongoing subscription and about 2 years worth of mags from my subscription, so what is that $60 for the subscription.

Is it just me or is there one missing between 41-60? :hmm:

That is really freakin cool.
Could you take a picture of all the spines? When you line them up, they make several different pictures, and I've always wondered what they looked like.
Also, I didn't realize the old strat guides were considered "nintendo power" magazines.

There is a silver covered Mega Man issue in the bottom left corner.....it is hard to see....

I haven't gotten around to checking yet. I don't think I have the NP checklists though....

When I feel like pulling them all out again to check for insert posters I will get a pic of the spines.
The old strat guides are in fact issues...

Nice looking collection. I've been subscribing to NP since 1992. I got all the magazines from before that off ebay. I have the complete Nintendo Power collection, although a few of my issues are in pretty bad shape and need to be replaced.
suckerpunch5, I have a picture of my NP magazines' spines in my room of doom pictures...although you probably would like to see something that's a little more close up.

Awesome collection, I'd like to complete it myself.
Your missing a few varients thought. Check the Contends page on issue 177(Final Fantasy: Cystal Cronicles) there are four covers.
Shouldn't be hard though, since it's only about 2 years old. Btw: do you have any of the cards that used to come in them?
Edit: Can't Spell :P

Very cool stuff, I've always wanted to complete a NP collection, but I've never really gotten around to it. I'm just waiting for the day that I find a buttload of them for dirt cheap.
Good job.

Too right... at the angle the picture has been taken from, it just looks like a piece of silver backing or foil to me.

It was real nice just to look at every cover and reflect about those times. It's like my life of games flashed before my eyes. Gorgeous collection--thanks for sharing.

If I'm not mistaken...my first issue I received as a subscription was Super Mario Bros 3 (though I received Duck Tales in the mail as a free back issue for subscribing...I tried to join the "Nintendo Fun Club" before finding out it didn't exist anymore!) and stopped somewhere between maybe issue 55 and issue 70. I'm a little rusty on that. I let my subscription run out and I didn't have any Nintendo products anymore anyways. It was nice to see the old covers again, though!

Very nice. Very very nice. I like it! When I was a kid, we borrowed a bunch of NES games and NP mags (Just starting out with the mag at the same time we were just starting out with out NES), one of them was the original first one. It's the only one I can remember us borrowing but I loved it because it had maps of SMB2. That's when I fell in love with the mag.
I also owned (two) of those SMB3 Players Guides. (One to replace the other I lost.) I still had it until a few years ago. It was literally worn to the bone. But I used it so much I had put tabs on the edges of the World intros so I could get to a different world easier. I loved it. I miss that guide.
It's all fuzzy now, but I'd say we started our original subscription around that very SMB PG issue. It went until the 4-Player Extra issue (Which I HATED because I had no 4 player games. And the only game inside it that appealed to me was Gauntlet.)
Our second subscription started with Metal Storm. I owned every issue from #22 - 55 because of an error in NP's shipping system. We never got our issues because they shipped them to our old house. One day way back in the 90's long after we forgot about the subscription we didn't realize we were supposed to get I asked my grandmother to subscribe. It was then the operator looked me up and found my older subscription and said we had a few issues coming to us (All paid in full waiting for a home.)... Man, we got a freaking HUGE box full of NP issues. I was set for months! It went all the way from Metal Storm (Which I had bought in store before this years before.) to Aladdin with Jafar on the cover. To this day I commend NP for keeping them for us. We would have just let it go otherwise.
I remember that 50th issue too. It wasn't the special one though. Just the retail version. (Despite being a delayed subscription.)
So sad! I mean the VERY NEXT ISSUE was the silver MM one as you say. Can you give us more info on issue #56?
Also, one of the best things about those issues is they had the infamous Zelda and Mario comics. As well as I think a Starfox one later in the bunch. And I forget what it is, but I remember something special about that WWF Super Wrestlemania issue (#35 I suppose), but can't remember what it was. There was a game in that one I would always come back to. Wish I could remember what it was.
Anyway, at the same time we got our backissues, we started a new subscription. The first issue was #83, Earthworm Jim. (Dammit again! The issue RIGHT AFTER Super mario RPG! I could USED that!) and went all the way to #108. (Dammit again! Right BEFORE Banjo Kazooie! WTF is with my luck??)
I think we also got a few others in between then and my current subscription. For instance, the Ocarina of Time (#114) issue and the Rogue Squadron (#115) one.
My current subscription starts around #179.
I still love it even though it is a bit biased. But if you want Nintendo news, this is where you GET Nintendo news. Nintendo News Get!
Edit: By the way, those four special issues are meant to be lined up a certain way. The one I had was whatever the most common one was. ;)
Also, that spine picture.. it never worked for me. It sucked. For a long time they did this back in the 64 days and the image was always NOT what it should be. So it looked like crap on the side. Then at one point they SWITCHED from Glue binding to Stapled ones! All my issues fell apart! Thank GOD they put it back to glue eventually.
Also, what surprises me is that they didn't make a big deal out of the 200th iussue like they did the 100th. Just a little "200th issue!" starburst. I like the poster though. :)

Nice, I have had a subscription since, the early days of the mag, off and on, but for the past 4 years, I have been a regular subscriber. I just picked up the complete 1-103 issues off ebay, for about .60 cents an issue, plus shipping, but I need some between 120-and 140... I am working on it.... nice to see all the issues out there, good job.

That brings back memories, I remember discussing that multi cover issue with my friend when he got it in the mail... he got the storm trooper :)
I was subscribed for 3 or so years, first issue I got was that diddy kong racing issue or the yoshi's story issue :P
all of mine are pretty beat now, although I got a whole box of older NP for free from a garage sale, and an even bigger box for $10 :)

VERY cool!! :D
I'm trying for a complete set myself. I don't have the cover variants of issue #92 though, so I've got a bit more work to do...
Thanks for the memories.
I don't think there was a single day at school that I didn't have at least one copy of NP with me. That first issue in particular went with me everywhere.
I had a subscription since day one which lasted up until the issue right before the Super Mario All-Stars issue. I filled out the Nintendo fun club application with my NES and after a few weeks I received several copies of the first NP issue instead. That foldout Zelda map had me hooked.

I have a good question: does anyone know the exact number of issues of the Nintendo Power Fun Club magazine that came before the NP mag. I have been trying to get all of these.
