Not that I'm aware of. Basicly, if there is anything I'd like to know. Right now, there are around 5 DPers in Houston but most of us have never got together in the same room to actualy meet. So far, I've met 1. The only kind of gatherings I'm aware of have little to do with gaming, and lots to do with anime. Those are O-Chibicon, Shiokaze con, and Oni con. No gaming conventions that I'm aware of as much like everything else in Houston, it's a big city but not much to do. With Astroworld closed down, there's even less to do.

There aren't any regular events here. Partly because there aren't any independent game stores around and partly because everything in this city is so spread out that it's hard to pick a spot and get everyone to meet. There was an arcade championship last December but it was in Humble, which is an hour away from me without traffic. I can get all the way to Austin in a little over 2 hours. Since the only promotion was a small column in Houston Press printed a couple of days beforehand, I couldn't get out of working most of the weekend.

I was hoping the Austin Gaming Expo would catch on, but there hasn't been anything since 2003. I've been picking one show a year to travel to, either CGE (2003, 2004) or E3 (2005, 2006) and plan on going to the 10th anniversary CGE next year. It's a shame that in a city area of over 4 million people that something can't be set up.

Well, instead of wanting someone else to come up with something big, why dont we come up with something small? Perhaps we should all just meet at some restraunt, store, or a park? Maybe have a trade day at a fellow Houston members house? Rather then do nothing, lets do something.

You got a few people up in your area. The only one that comes to mind right now though is Ghouls& Ghosts. Or is it Ghosts&Goblins? I cant remember, but he's a poster here.

There's a Dave and Busters on Richmond in the Galleria area. That would be fun. LOL

I do not know this place which you speak of. What is it? Perhaps in May or June we can have our first official Houston meet?

Well, if you're familiar with Westheimer and the Galleria area at all, then you've won half the battle already!

Richmond runs parallel with Westheimer. I'd say it's 15-20 minutes away from the Galleria.

This would be...uh, south west Houston, FYI.

Check it, HERE (http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=dave+busters&near=Houston,+TX&sll=37.062500,-95.677068&sspn=23.875000,57.630033&cid=29763056,-95363056,11364872424018675361&li=lmd&z=14&t=m).

Dave & Busters is on Richmond near Fountainview. You could almost walk from the Galleria. I was there, like, ten days ago for a birthday party. We had a drunken good time :) Still have a few points left on my card. They had a LOT of shooting games (HOD 2,3,4, Time Crisis, etc.), a few networked racing games, and single-player simulation games but most of the rest are ticket/skill games. A few more arcade machines than Jillian's.

Well? Anyone interested? I'm game if you guys are! *snicker*

But, I know there are more Houstonians than this. Let's draw their attention to this thread or maybe one of us could start an Official Houston Roundup thing.
