How do they compare? I'm thinking of getting a Sega Master System and was wondering if the SMS Sonics have a lot of slowdown as to the Genny ports?(Sonic 1/2). Is there any major graphic differances(not that it matters).

They are separate games and not ports if that's what you're thinking. The Genesis games are better but the SMS ones are still great and have their own feel. I recommend Sonic Chaos first and then Sonic 1. Sonic 2 I don't like as much. If you have played the Game Gear games they're almost identical.

Humm... So there not ports? I've been playing the genny Sonics forever, but the grankids have gotten at that age and begg'd granpa for theim and taken the genny and games away :( :P
I do not have a game gear nor plain on one at this point.
Thanks for the info.

A bit off topic but you could play the 2 sonic collections that are out on modern consoles, depending where your from, as they will give you an indication on what there like.
As sms games go they IMO are the best altough I dont agree with anyone that Sonic Chaos is any good as the feel of the game is far to slow for a Sonic title. Sonic 1 & 2 IMO feel fast and fine.

Sorry, don't own any modern consoles and don't plan on it.

If you wanted to you could buy the kids a Gamecube and Sonic Mega Collection. A used GC runs for about 70 now so you could do it for about 90 bucks.

Heres the thing about the Master System Sonic Games. There very different from the Genesis Sonic games. They have the same concept but some are harder than others a have fewer levels. They are fun thou if you know how to play them. And on the off topic subject the ones on the modern consoles in the campains are gamegear ported,so there a little different from the Master System Versions. I really recomend playing the master system title on the Master System or the Genesis Master system convertor. Original Hardware i think is the best to play the original games.

Thought about that, they just love'd playing that Genny at by house, soo one day I just said, why don't you just take it with you :D The oldfart has lots of old gamming stuff, Just thought I might look into the Sega master system since I scored some cheap master games and was thinking of picking up those Sonic games.
Edit: Thanks "alec006"! I think I'll just go for it, there's just a magic about playing games on the hardware that they came on IMO.

My grandmother got an SNES from a church auction(had no idea what she was buying, just wanted to donate money) that sat at her house. She would play it with my brother and I when we were younger. Now, I have that SNES. Yes, it's yellowed, doesn't have the original box, and isn't modded at all, but I love it to death and will never get rid of it.
