dont remember if this was posted, but a host of EA ps2 games are being taken offline friday.

ok, i have two PS2s, and will soon have 2 copies of NFS and 007: EON (borrowed from friends), so i can do a packet log of these games. im not claiming to have the ability to code a server for any of these, but i would like to have a log available so any one so inclined can freely do so.

2 questions:

- can i properly make a log with two machines in the same network?
- what program is best for my purposes?

im not saying these are the best games in the world, and the most worthy of 'saving'. but i certainly enjoyed both, and any manner of fucking EA sounds like fun to me.

Assuming the sniffing computer is connected to the same hub (not switch or router) as the PS2, this is really easy to do. Look for a program called ethereal. I'm pretty sure there's a Windows version, in addition to the Linux and Mac versions. I think it lets you save log files of the packets you intercept for future reading.

Do you have a list of all of the titles going offline? :(

EA's nonsupport for extended online play is just totally awesome and I really love and respect their commitment to the gaming community!
