I'm not. They have so many amazing games for that handheld over there.

I've got tingles (http://www.zeldalegends.net/gallery/categories/The_Wind_Waker/Official_Art/Characters/media/tingle.jpg)!!! I'm saving for a DS at the moment (REALLY looking forward to "The NEW Super Mario Bros.")!!!

I will stand by Nintendo's quality (both in systems and in games) until the day I die.

I was just talking to a customer at the Blockbuster I work at about the 360 (we're likely getting games in Feb/March). He asked me what I thought about it and the PS3 in regards to which one I would get. Told him that I will definately get both, but not anytime soon. Maybe the end of the year for 360 and sometime next year for PS3. I just didn't see the rush since there are SO MANY fantastic games out now and coming out soon (zelda) to keep me broke, errr, busy.

BUT, I told him, one system that I am DEFINATELY getting right away is the Revolution. I am SOOO excited by the freshness and promise that it has (I seriously doubt I will be let down).

After all the negative chatter about the DS before it's launch, and to be so absolutely blown away by it's quality (every time I visit GS or Best Buy) *YOWZA*... I can only expect that this gigantic gamble Nintendo is taking with the Revolution to be a staggering success!

Hope I didn't get off topic there. I just can't wait to get my own DS!

Craziest thing though: DOA4 was said to save the Xbox360 in Japan....it sold 60,000 copies in its first week of release... lol

DoA4 is already out?

It was obvious that 360 is gonna lose. I mean, look at the launch-titles. PDZ, RR6, a few sport titles and 2 pachinko games. And of course a tetris clone!

Is it a rule that one launch has to be a tetris-like game???

Tingle is out? I'm also anxiously awaiting New Super Mario Bros., but there hasn't been any news for awhile, and it seems to have slipped. I don't think there is even a set release date at the moment :(

It means nothing for the Revolution, unless the Revolution has games that people really want to play. Why has the DS done so well? Because they have games people want to play. The Game Boy Advance wiped the floor with pretty much everything else, and that didn't help the Cube at all.

Im surprised it didnt sell better in america, too, considering how few Xboxes there were.

LOL As soon as I saw this thread, that's what I thought it would be about!

Ummm no Goatdan that wasnt my point

My point was this: the DS was initially looked at as a "gimmick" gameboy and it was experimental when compared to traditional handhelds- the same way that the Revolution is looked upon right now when compared to more conventional/traditional consoles like Xbox360 and PS3- but it has payed of in big ways both in the U.S. and Japan.

You are giving waaaay to much credit to the software while there are many great games for the DS what has really sold the system is its forward thinking and use of the dual touchscreen and all the new play mechanics that can be impemented with the DS becuase of those new features that no other handheld can provide be it the GBA,SP or PSP and the same can be said about the Revolution in that it looks at though it will provide the same "breath of fresh air" if you will for consoles....SO in conclusion I think the great succes of the DS DOES BODE WELL FOR THE REVOLUTION in that it SHOWS THAT GAMERS ARE INTERESTED IN SOMETHING NEW or more specifically new ways to play (i.e. new gameplay elements that the Revos controller might provide) and experience videogames and entertainment NOT JUST SHINEYr GRAPHICS and reall looking mustaches ,boobs and sweat ;)

Okay, that argument I get...

Personally, I don't think the stick is selling the games. The games are selling the system. Do you know of anyone who bought one and said, "I can't wait to play games with the stylus! I don't care what they are, it's just so new!" I don't. People bought it thanks to games like Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, Castlevania, Mario & Luigi and so on. Games sell systems, and if the control scheme can help, that's not bad.... but control schemes do not sell systems without games. Otherwise, we'd all be playing the Game.Com.

You speak the truth, goatdan. Good games sell systems, not gimmicks.

In all respect I didnt state that gimmicks sales systems

Its only considered a gimmick if it is NOT SUCCESSFUL anything successful is considered REVOLUTIONARY -Walkman, the D-pad for the NES- anything that is a failure is considered a "gimmick"-Virtual boy- that is the only thing that seperates what is considered a "gimmick" from what is considered a Revolutionary step in entertainment be it videogames or otherwise.

Anyway are you calling the DS a "gimmick" ? If so I guess those fancy smancy D-pads are still considered a "gimmick" right?

One more time:

What Im trying to point out is that the Revolution will (probably) provide NEW WAYS TO PLAY GREAT NEW SOFTWARE - I.E.- GAMES and possibly revolutionary games= GREAT NEW INNOVATIVE SOFTWARE that could very possibly mark a shift in the way that we play videogames once again, much like Nintendo did with the NES, all this do to the fact that (much like the DS) the Revolution tries a new "gimmick" and it pays of big time once again (POSSIBLY) :)

The thing is that those so-called "gimmicks" are what is necassary for the advancement of any form of entertainment especially videogames.
