What games utilise the HDD for the PS2 if you wanna save your stats through the HDD instead of the PS2 Memory Card, and does the PS2 HDD upgrade the graphics capabilites?

Almost none of them. Final Fantasy XI, some Resident Evil Outbreak game (just for caching and whatnot)... And that's about it, I think.

I think I read last year in EGM that ESPN NFL 2K5 had a (possibly undocumented) use for it. I believe that if you have the hdd attached, the postgame show will show some of the key plays in real time.

Upon looking, I dont see any mention of this on the box, nothing in those little rectangles at the bottom.

There is the HD loader so you can play your games off of the HDD.

I believe there's a hack to do what you want via the memory card exploit on the PS2 + HDLoader + some other program, but I forget what the hell it's called. Even then, I don't think it allows you to use your HD as a memory card so much as it allows you to store your saves on the hard drive (similar to how you can store PS1 saves on a PS2 card).

On the topic of games that actually make use of the hard drive, the Japanese version of Final Fantasy X would preinstall a bunch of data to the hard drive to reduce load times.

yeah with espn nfl2k5 you get the full replays during the sportscenter with the HDD but besides Socom 2 for the new maps and FFXI i dont remember any others. I endedup putting a 120gb one and buying an HD advance to play the games off my HD.
