Collectors may be interested in purchasing this disc for their collection.

https://oms.one.microsoft.com/anonymous/xbox360bcs577/en-us/OM/CI/CustomerInfo.asp

It allows you to update your 360 to play old Xbox games even if you don't have live.

My order was $1.99 shipping + tax so, $2.11 total.....worth it in my opinion for a disc that may not be readily available in the future, from a collection standpoint

Yep, not working for me either. How often do they release new discs? I'd like to be able to snag them all myself.

http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backwardscompatibility.htm#download

Ok, go there and scroll down a bit...choose your country (US, Canada), and click "order now."

That worked out great for me.

sorry...the link must time out...it was working....

...and, sure you could just download the files and burn them to your own cd....but it wouldnt be an offiicall pressed cd from microsoft, which is what the $1.99 gets you....and offical cd, not some download file on your own pc....

what does the package that you receive look like? What kind of case or sleve do they put it in? That could be a huge part of whether or not it ever becomes collectible.

no clue....no one will know until they receive one or find out from someone that receieved one....my guess is a plain white cardboard sleeve with your address on a label on one side....

Thanks for the link. I just ordered mine! Not because I want to collect but I acutally need this and will be applying it to my 360 to play original xbox games! No, I am not connected online with any of my consoles as I don't do the online gaming thing.

Really, why is that? I figure the main reason a lot of people are intrested in XBox is the ease of online play. No cable modem at your place?

If you have a cd burner you can just download a file from the site and burn it to a disc to update your 360 instead of ordering it, just so you know for future updates.

Also, maybe its just me but I dont see it being too collectible just because they will be realeasing alot more of these and the future ones will obviously be more beneficial with more games supported. But I guess this specific disc wont be too common.

or, this could be a good way to start a hard to complete collection....at $2 a pop and if they arent released at say a weekly basis, it would be easy to afford the whole set of say 50 discs over the lifetime of the system, if they keep releasing them and if they stay cheap....and if they dont get too out of hand...like say 500 total different discs....

i also have a question.....this is infact the first of this type of disc...correct?, even though it is titled 1.2 and the original emulator on the hdd for halo and halo 2 is 1.0....was 1.1 skipped, just online via live, or was there a disc released???

Im not 100% positive but I am pretty sure there was an update online when 360 released in Nov., but I think the Dec. disk is the first, I could of course be wrong.

this line from the site "Order a disc by mail from Xbox.com (available early December)." makes me think it is the 1st, but i was just hoping to confirm.....

1.0 was the original emu. 1.1 Came out and it had a problem with Halo 2 so they released 1.2 which corrected that problem.

Just online (live), it lasted for about a day before they knew it was screwed up.

I guess I'm not into the whole online attitude. I have a friend who has Xbox live and we played Halo 2 at his home and there was just this arrogance that I could not stand. Before that I had contemplated online gaming but that night totally turned me off. Plus I don't like this whole gamer tag thing with all the acheivements and such.

I got the Xbox 360 because 1. I get every console, 2. Microsoft has seemed to secure more Japanese developers and those developers have some nice projects in line for the 360 and I must get these games :D

I guess I could do this in the future. Didn't think of it. Heck I didn't even look for any updates until I saw this thread.

Also I'm not a collector, I just a video game player who just happens to have a sizeable collection of games. If it has value some day, cool, if not oh well :)
