As much as i know you prefer your goods, untouched, undamaged and as new as can be... Its not always the case ;)

Today i got my hands on One Piece Grand Battle, New and Sealed at Virgin Megastores for just £14.99 (technically nothing if you consider the fact i had a £15 gift voucher)

Anyways, I opened the game a few minutes ago, ready to play, and was shocked to find this:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v366/cauterize4/factoryseal.jpg

Both the Manual Holders had been broken off, and the manual was (obviously) loose, with a little scuffed corner from moving around slightly...

I couldnt even tell this had happened, as it wasnt making a noise inside the case whatsoever...
Ontop of that, the fact it was sealed kinda makes you think the goods will be intact...
From the outside it looked (and still does) as mint as it comes...

Luckly though, im not bothered one bit, as i just wanted the game...
However i thought id share this, as the whole collecting sealed goods is beyond me :P and obviously isnt always the best choice as proven ;)

Are you trying to start a flame war here? This is obviously going to touch a nerve on few people. I'm not really a collector of sealed games, but you can shake the case, and here that rattle of that loose disc or a broken off plastic easily.

I don't think collecting is the best period.

I buy the games I play, I will never, ever have a complete system collection, but I understand how some people want to buy sealed, or complete games, although accidents do happen in the factory, such as in your case, but when a game is sealed, they won't usually open it, so to me the "what if??" factor doesn't seem important.

Nobody need talk of flame wars, though this topic probably could've gone in one of the other threads (I don't mind).

If you collect sealed stuff, you should be aware of all the possible problems you can run into.

Like I said with the Twix Scenario...and you don't even have to look past the first page of Modern Gaming to see examples. Blank Halo discs without artwork, switched games...

Seriously though, I can relate. Those things that hold CDs in get mashed up all the time and the pieces break off and scratch the heck out of the disc. Plus that'll wear a nice little ring in the back of the booklet.

When i got my US version of Jak 3, one of the manual holders was missing (you could tell it broke off and the broken holder was not in the case). And this was in a sealed copy with the white security label on the top.

I don't consider myself a sealed collector but I do have several unopened games that I got for cheap that I will never open so I suppose I do collect them by chance. It has always worried me that an old sealed games bought from eBay or a used game store might have the wrong game in it or a switched game though supposing someone figured out how to reseal games and make it look as if it was factory done. As far as the case breaking you can usually tell, especially if the disc holder is broken.

Oh and Cauterize do all UK PS2 games come in a medium blue coloured case like that as opposed to the navy blue coloured ones we have here in Canada and The US?

youre missing the point of collecting sealed.

it doesnt matter if the hinges inside might be broken off, cause itll never be open. its brand new from factory. itll stay that way.

I say......Yes he is, I say we stop him, by flanking in from the north coast of the UK, take his SMS games, and run back to America to proclaim we are the US Colonials and blame the British for taking our limited edition Metal Gear Solid for PSX back in 1998!

Its possible that the clips broke off due to rough handling, perhaps in the shipping process. Once the clips broke off its not unlikely that one of the corners of the manual developed small folds.

And yes, to rehash on a older topic, I myself also don't understand why people are offended when the subject of collecting sealed games comes up.

I just opened my copy of Demon Stone I picked up a few months ago at Toys R Us because of this and was disappointed that there were no coupons for Applebees inside. False advertising.

Maybe there's some coupons lurking in my copy of Digial Devil Saga...hmmm....I'll find out later.

Occaisionally whenever I open up sealed GBA titles I'll get a manual that was improperly placed inside, dinged corners, bent edges, far from the covetous description of mint.

Terrible reality, but perhaps those afflicted with a sealed obsession subscribe to Schroedinger's posit that the unseen can be everything and nothing at once.

Well its wierd, as the rest of the case is intact.... Just the clips were broken...
Makes no sense really...

Ironically One time I got a steak at applebees and when I bit into it a sealed Import Saturn game was inside.

Radiate Sliver gun or something liek that. I was very angry and promptly ate the rest of my soup in silent dissapointment.

I hate when that happens, they always try to offer something else, and they never know how truly upset you are.
