Hi all,

I just took a very lengthy survey from a reputable marketing company about the Nintendo Revolution. In it was a Flash animation that featured many screenshots of the classic gaming download interface they are testmarketing.

Check them out at www.classicgamer.com

That's all I really know about these shots. They are more than likely prototype shots since the design looks like bad PowerPoint if you ask me.

Best,

-Cav

That is awesome! Something like that would make me consider getting one of those, especially because I don't want to pay the nutty prices for original NES stuff. Never got one ( was a Sega kid ) originally, so i'm SOL on that one.

Thanks for the awesome post.

Boy, you ain't kiddin'. Those are some ugly menus. I've got to believe this is just some marketing guy's mockup of the way the system will work, rather than a true prototype of what it will look like. At least, I hope...

No Gameboy? And they'd better have an option to fullscreen those.

if there's any credibility to those game lists, it'd be a shame for both the snes and n64 to be without Rare's games.

Is it just me, or do these screens look incredibly fake?

nintendo no longer owns rare, so im not surprised the slightest bit to see their games withheld.

the screen look bad cause a) their mockups, b) its been taken from a flash animation.

thanks for breaking that confidentiality agreement and releasing them =]

Killer Instinct and the first 2 DKC's are on that list. Are those series exempt or something?

whoops X_x didn't see kiler instinct there the first time, DKC isn't surprising though, nintendo owns the franchise, but strange that dkc 3 and dk64 weren't there though

wow...do those menus ever look terrible....hopefully these are fake ... or very very very early workups of what the system will feature...and the pictures of the nes, snes, and n64....those just look very cheesy...

There is absolutely, no way that that was produced by Nintendo. It looks like something that some dude made in Paint.

Blast Corps is on the list...

EDIT: Holy shit! Sin & Punishment!

The worst part is, I own most of the games on that list and the ones I don't want to spend the big bucks on to buy aren't on that list. And I hope they don't charge a ridiculous high amount for games that are rare (not the company)

fakesville. nintendo can't possibly be THAT far away from a marketable product if they hope to release the machine this year.

... do they still hope to release the machine this year?

Off topic, but I miss the real version of Classic Gamer Magazine, Cav. Such a quality publication. I hope it returns in paper form, someday...

i wouldnt pay more than $1 to have Super Mario Bros. on my Revolution....I already have it on countless carts + on an arcade machine....i really dont need another version / copy unless it is very very cheap ... or free.....

I know it'll never happen, but I think that there should be a way to prove ownership of a game and play it for free. I guess Ill just "hack" the games I own into the Revolution once someone figures out how.

What interests me about that list are the Super Scope/Zapper games. If its real that means that they can add gyro functionality to old games.

Oh man, I haven't owned Blast Corps for years.

Sin & Punishment, as well, would be a real treat in the states. :)

I disagree

Do you know what a gyro is? It's not something that has anything to do with playing light gun games. I imagine you'll use that remote control looking thing with the two sensors placed to each side of the television.

if they charge for the old games i dont think i will be purchasing any, i have all the old games i want on my nes.
if i remember right when the info was leaked on the revolution the older games were to be free for download.
i was sold on this and though this was what was going to bring nintendo back to the top over sony and microsoft.
but now that all this rent and buy crap has come up i dont see it happening.

Maybe the older games can be bought via a meseta-like system with credit earned during online tournament play. That'd be kinda cool, huh?

tonyvortex

i think everyone forgets that everyone who buys the system isnt like any of us and has most of these games legally or on roms.working in a used cd/videogame/movie place i can tell you everyday we have dozens of people looking for original nintendos and super nintendos .these people have no problem paying upwards of $40 just to buy the system plus a few classic games.yes we know the first mario is so plentiful it could be a doorstop for some but most of america is keen to play it again.

Would you care to tell us why?

Captain Wrong
01-13-2006, 08:27 AM
Why are people so shocked they're going to be charging for games? The whole "all the romz are free" thing was little more than wishful thinking and one of the few things Nintendo confirmed about this prior to now was that they would be charging for the games.

Where do you take that survey?

Leo_A
01-13-2006, 12:36 PM
Because you bought the game for the original system doesn't mean your entitled to it for free on different platforms, that's why. That's like expecting to get Activision Anthology for the PS2 for free because you have a complete Activision 2600 collection, etc. Doesn't make any sense.

If for nothing else, your paying for the service too. Why should Nintendo set up the necessary infrastructure for this to happen so you can get the games for free while the people that want to purchase the games have to shoulder the entire cost? Plus if you already own it, why do you need to rebuy it for anyways?

For whatever it's worth, if it puts anyone's mind at ease, I've known Cav quite a bit longer than I've been on the Digital Press forums. I trust him if he says this is the info he got.

Actually, I'd say that if you already own the games you should be entitled to them on any system. I know they wont provide this, but if you have the equipment, Im rather sure you can legally copy your games and play them on a computer via emulator. If you have a way to then play them on an Xbox or PS2, I'm pretty sure its fair game.

I don't think anyone is accusing Cav of faking screens. I think we are just saying that they are most definitely mockups, and not representative of what the final product will be.

The plus is that we have what are claimed to be early screens. The minus is that they probably don't really mean anything. But you can't blame the guy for posting them.

To be fair though, he did say they looked like a bad power point. I think we are just affirming his opinion. :)
