i recently put a honey bee super nintendo/famicom converter up on ebay with a buy it now and a 3-day time period, figuring i'd just take my chances. it sold within a day, was paid for through paypal, and was mailed out yesterday.
today i got the email stating that my auction had been removed because of the mod chips, game enhancers, and boot discs policy. of course, this also meant that my final value fee, listing fee and buy it now fee were refunded.
timing is indeed everything. :)

I really want to know if they try to take your money from paypal that will suck. Good timing for you saves you some money but if you do it again you might get kicked off Ebay.

yeah, this is the first time that i had listed something that i figured would be sketchy, and i have no plans to do it again. i hadn't thought about the paypal angle; so far so good, but somehow i wouldn't be shocked if that happened...

I had eBay cancel one of my sales after the auction as well. It was for an item that is not video game related. I ended up getting more than $15 back from eBay.

Heh, I bought a game lot once (PS2 with HDD). Nothing illegal about it - it was the FFXI bundle - but eBay pulled it a few days after I used the buy-it-now. Seller shipped me the stuff, and eBay sent me another email saying the item had been reinstated.

Is this a mod device to play illegal games? Don't see how this would violate ebay rules.

Any device that can be used to circumvent region lockouts is apparently not allowed on eBay. This goes as far as SNES convertors and Freeloader for example.

It goes further than that. My account was suspended from mid-Nov. to mid-Dec. for saying a Super Famicom cartridge will work in a modified SNES console. It took hours of work to be reinstated and cost me thousands in holiday sales. Ebay customer service is totally non-existant.

Does that include region-free DVD players are forbidden?

it's strange how several blatant pirated stuff goes though. I've been noticing an increase in modded xbox auctions, i guess due to the new 360. I think eBay would loose a tonne of money if they got rid of ALL pirated stuff. They just pull some to make it look like they're trying.

Not to derail the thread but Mr.Faxanadu what is the significance of the Faxanadu image in your siginature file? Other than the fact that you obviously like the game quite a bit.

Mr. Faxanadu hates Faxanadu and his factory sealed copy is not his personal holy grail. He just puts the picture in his sig to be an asshole and as a joke to confuse rpepper9.

Hey, Bluteg, thanks for clearing that up. It makes so much scense to me now. LOL
