I need help from those of you more versed in eBay than me:

I have a copy of an extremely rare Dirty Three live album that was only sold on their recent (and very short) tour. My friend wants one, too, and I was going to get them one for their upcoming birthday. These rarely turn up on eBay, and when they do, they sell for about $40-60. However, I am broke, and can only afford about $25 shipped.

An auction for one came up recently (http://cgi.ebay.com/Dirty-Three-Live-at-Meredith-Rare-Tour-CD_W0QQitemZ4817738070QQcategoryZ307QQssPageNameZW DVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem), and I bid a lowball ($20 without shipping). Of course, I got outbid, and it sold for $40.50. But immediately after it was over, the seller emailed me with a second chance offer to buy it for the $20 that I bid. I was the lowest bidder of five total, and this item routinely sells for two or three times what I paid for it. I emailed him back the following: "I just got a second chance offer from you for this CD at the cost of $20. Why would the second chance be so low, if it sold for $40? Do you have a lot of these? If so, how did you acquire them?" He responded as follows (this is his email in its entirety): "The second chance offer is at what your bid was - i can make it $40 if you want :)"

So, the question is, what do I do now? His feedback isn't the best, but it isn't terrible either. Do I take the offer? Should I press him for more information? I could also tell him that I already have a legitimate copy, so if he tries to pull any funny business, I'd know. This half-price second chance offer doesn't make any sense.[/url]

It's probably a bootleg. The same thing happened to me once and I didn't get any straight answers either.

I'd tell him thanks but no thanks, unless he can provide a few pictures for comparison.
