Only tried Hl:2. Fun game but the frame rate is mediocre. I mean after a year it should be a little better

Update:
Painkiller is a decent game but it is almost exactly the same as the PC version. The game could best be described as a gothic Serious Sam. The graphics are decent and the physics and frame-rate are truly top notch.
Half-Life 2 has the brilliance of the PC version but it just feels kinda sloppy. What is most apparent are the graphics. They just are not what they could be and the frame-rate can get very bad, mostly when something is going on with the phyisics like if you shoot an explosive can with the gravity gun the game actually pauses. The load times arent great either and they happen quite frequently. The game play and fun is here but this doen't capture the brilliance of the PC one due to the technical issues.
Trying Stubbs the Zombie soon.

Bah, it's easy to be too critical of HL2 on the Xbox. I was just playing it an hour ago and I swore I saw some slowdown when I shot an explosive barrel with some crates and planks lying around (somewhere around the steam pipe section of Route Kanal)...and that's on a new system with a 64-bit Athlon 4000+ and a GeForce 7800 GTX...I don't even have the resolution cranked up past 1024x768 (though I see I had 6x filtering on at the time...and Trilinear filtering).

Yeah, it's amazing it even works at all. Most of us can't even approach the better settings for HL2 on our PCs anyways.

I would tell you if I owned a 360.
As far as Half-Life 2 it is impressive what could be done on such old hardware but they have had over a year to make the port. The frame-rate didn't piss me off as much as the load times though.
What I don't get is how your running a 7800 GTX and a AMD 64 4000+ and having problems with HL 2 O_O
I'm sure that with those specs you could run the game all maxed out.

With those specs, you should be able to max out Half-Life easily.
I'm running a 3000+ with a 6600GT and I'm almost maxing it out.

Ahh, that's right, I remember hearing it'd come with the FF11 beta. Might have to go pick that badboy up.

I think the Beta is also available for download from Xbox Live.

I can officially say I have MMOs. FF was my last try at liking one but it will never happen. I think Hurley will be the only one that I will ever like.

1.5 Hours installing it and the game is shit. But that's my general opinion of MMO's and FF.

Yeah that install time was insane. Also it takes up 5GBs I don't think it even takes that much on PC. This game looks like the PS2 version just running in HD.

Yeah, I don't think it looks any better then the ps2 version running on component. The PC version still looks the best by far.

Me too. It's nice for my collection, but FFXI was dead last year and this isn't going to cause a resurgence.

Not having a computer with the specs to play Half Life 2, I found the demo on this month's disc to be incredible. I didn't notice any significant slowdown myself. I imagine the downgrade in quality is noticable to those who've spent extensive time with the game on a fast PC, but if you haven't gone that route, the Xbox version is great, and sports some of the best gameplay and effects on the system. I'll be picking it up on the strength of this demo.

Damn! I picked a lousy time to stop my subscription. I resubscribed but then I figured the original Xbox coverage was going to go away real quick so I quickly cancelled.
THEN they get some good demos.....

I think it is going to be slowing down though. I really used to like the magazine but I really hate the new look, everything is 360. You may be better off not resubsribing as i'm guessing the disks will go the way of 360 quite soon.

I bought the magazine(which in the past was total garbage) and suffered though the clunkiest download I have ever seen for a console. Even with the download being a pill to take(1.5 to 2.0 hour setup) I think this is the best idea for a new 360 console to have in its library. FFXI for free? I have gotten used to the interface, and am going on my sixth hour of playing. It is free, and it looks like it will be free for awhile. Yes it is pretty much a PS2 looking MMORPG, but who cares? The game is FREE, and well, that is $60 cheaper than a new release! If anything, it will kill some time before Morrowind IV comes out. I can think of much worse things to play. Anyone who does not like MMORPGs stay away...these games are either loved or hated.

Just picked the issue up yesterday. Had to boil the damn disc before it could play due to DRE's popping up before the intro movie comes on. Didn't have a whole lotta time to play it but I got a taste of:
Half Life 2: Visually the game is pretty sweet on the Xbox. Granted I never played the game on the PC but still it's a treat to see. I played around with that gravity gun(?) and it's amazing how the physics work. Picked up a table with junk on it and the junk slid off, tilting the table where it was heaviest! The only thing that yanked me out of the experience was the load time between sections. If there had to be loading they could have dressed it up a bit like using some video or something.
Painkiller: THIS I played on the PC. While it's not nearly as sharp as the computer version, it's as smooth and fast. I picked the first mission (a town) and proceeded to turn my meat-slinging foes into pin cushions with my crossbow. The developers seemed to be able to capture that thrill-kill feeling of the original so this looks like it could be a good Xbox FPS.
Tonight I'll probably check out Stubbs.

I had to revive this thread because I have a question to ask and I didn't want to start a new thread. The last 2 to 3 disc I received via mail had the disc in white generic sleeves. They are not green and numbered with game info on the cd sleeve anymore. Is this happing to anyone else?
Did they change ther policy?

Can't recall on the numbering (the latest disc I haven't even played yet) but the paper sleeves has been happening for a few issues. Trying to cut costs I'd imagine.
